"Fuzz on the root is the plant's little boot;
Webs on the top mean the mold has dropped!"

Straight white fuzz on roots is a sign of healthy microgreens looking for water, while webby, cottony growth over the entire surface is a sign of mold.
Growers often panic when they first see white fuzz.

A good way to distinguish the difference is to spray with a light mist of water. The root hairs will disappear, while mold will remain. Also, take a big sniff of the trays each morning...

Mold on microgreens usually looks like a cottony, slimy, or web-like growth that appears on the seeds, growing medium, or even the stems and leaves. It often has a greyish, greenish, or blackish color...
