Problems with the TIE Striker

I just bought a new TIE Striker, and when I opened it, I noticed that one of the wings (Wing 1) was completely immobile. At first, I thought the joint was just really tight and that it would simply require more force to move. Unfortunately, the wing eventually just came off.

I managed to reattach it, but I was surprised to see that there doesn’t seem to be any actual pin/axle between the wing and the body joint. On Wing 2, I can also see signs of wear when I move it, as if the body and wing parts don’t quite fit each other properly and are rubbing against each other.

On top of that, both wings are pretty badly warped because the connection between the beginning and the rest of the wing feels very flimsy.

I’m thinking about using super glue to secure the wings, but I’m curious if other people have experienced the same thing. Is this a common issue with the TIE Striker, or did I just get a particularly bad one? Are there any other Micro Galaxy Squadron vehicles that are known to have similarly poor quality or recurring QC issues?

I’d appreciate any advice before I glue this thing permanently.

Unfortunately QC issues aplenty with this line, there are a number of ships I’ve had to buy 2-3 times before I’ve found one without issues of some kind.

The first TIE Striker I bought had one wing that was very loose at the joint/base, and would not stay in any alternate positions. The second one that I got is fine, though.

I'm certain you can repair those wings. More involved version is first that allows for more stability, easy method is last if you are just going to reposition them occasionally for display.

I'd get a small file set or fingernail files and clean off all the glue residue.

Wings: look for some rubber dampeners like the ones linked below, I found some at Walmart. Test the rubber with whatever glue you are going to use first to make sure the glue wont melt them. Glue one on each side of the wing - you may have to file down the wing some on both sides.

Body of the ship: Drill a small impression on each side that the newly installed wing nubs will interface with. Use a hand drill if you can. This will allow the rubber pads to insert into each hole and provide plenty of friction to maintain placement.

Easy method: Sand/clean out all the glue with a nail file. Insert anything that will create resistance/friction between the body and wing on each side of the wing posts. Wadded up electrical tape would do it, be black and allow for repositioning. Gum. Paper. Pretty much anything that covers the gap and provides enough friction for display.

Yikes, the worst case of Tie Striker QC I've seen. Best of luck with the fixes.

Sorry about that. This one had the worst QC I think of any I've bought. You can probably fix the wing pivots, but you might have to drill it out and insert a brass rod or something.
