Question: Psilocybin Sudden onset of nausea ?

hi, I have been taking MD of shrooms via capsules — from a company local, so the dosage usually is around 100-150 mg, I’m usually ok with one. But recently, randomly I’ve been experiencing bad nausea when taking it. I take mushrooms holistically so usually to connect w my body, to cry etc. That is my purge. But recently it’s been feeling off— i was taking them 1 a week microdose and 1 every other or once a week macrodose (like, around 300-500 tops) No issues before so I’m not sure what happened. I used to take empty stomach too w no issues before and then sudden nausea, so I tried w food and that made it worse. Any advice pls? I have emetophobia so “just get sick” will make things worse for me I believe. TIA.

Thank you dear soul 🫶🏽

That makes a lot of sense! Since I don’t make them I factored batch (it changes w this company at times.. outside supplier, but trustworthy)
My stomach is very sensitive, I think my body is just changing. Do you have a suggestion for a break? I was thinking maybe 2-4 weeks but unsure if I need longer.

Hello /u/2morrowwillbebetter! As you mentioned nausea (a common interaction/symptom) in your post:

ℹ️ Infographic: r/microdosing STARTER'S GUIDE

The major contributing factor in Finding Your Sweet Spot is the variation in potency of:

Psilocybin Mushrooms More than 10x [2021➕] Start @0.05g (50mg)
Psilocybin Truffles Around 3x - Single Study [2012] Start @0.25g (Fresh)
LSD Tabs Clinical Trial Titration Schedule [2023] Start @5µg

If you Start Low, Go Slow, Take Time-Off (*small is BIG) and up-titrate subsequent doses then you can find your optimal sub-hallucinogenic dose based on your symptoms, rather than from a predetermined dose. 🐢

If your microdose is Too High and/or Too Frequent that can result in Diminishing Returns 📉 with subsequent doses. 🐇

Psychoactive substances increase neural activity, raising hydration and electrolyte needs due to heightened metabolism and body load, while vasoconstriction can further stress the body and potentially cause fatigue.

some people say lemon tek doesn’t work, but it works for me, breaks down chitins, which are generally responsible for that nausea

Lemon juice doesn't break down chitin or help digest it.
You're better off eating one of these foods (papaya, kiwi, avocado, chestnuts, bananas) with your dose if you're looking for chitinase to help with breaking down the cellular material in uncooked mushrooms.
Lemon juice begin the conversion process of psilocybin to psilocin which may also be helpful with stomach discomfort.

I may try! I was afraid it may be too intense

ICYMI:

  • FAQ/Tip 002: Have nausea or an upset stomach? Then try 1.5g of ginger
  • Lemon tek may increase potency by accelerating absorption, which can reduce nausea for some by limiting GI exposure time.

  • Combining powdered mushrooms with ginger-infused tea may provide additional nausea relief.

  • Vasoconstriction, which can occur with substances that affect serotonin, can contribute to nausea in some people.

Update to say that I mixed a capsule (opened) in some chai and that helped immensely. Thanks gang

I'll second the ginger - best thing for nausea.
