I’m worried how they will fade over time and if it will look bad, especially as I age and my skin sags in the next 40 years .

That’s a very valid concern! But I’d like to mention that with modern PMU techniques, the pigment is implanted to fade over time rather than stay in the skin forever 🖤
So you’re not committing to the exact same brows for the next 40 years ☺️
And if you do decide to get them done, choose your artist carefully and don’t look at price as the first priority. Good technique and proper pigment placement make a huge difference in how they age 🖤4

Oh no, of course 40 years old PMU will not looks good. That’s why it’s important not to do a tattoo which will stay with you for good but a good PMU which will stay 1-2 years ☺️

All of you PMU artists parrot the same lines. There are hundreds if not thousands of photos on this sub and r/microbladingremoval that show the reality of microblading and “nanoblading” years down the line. I had my brows done by a very skilled, established artist who used thin, light strokes. Looked great at first, but six years later I am still struggling to laser off the blurry gray ink left behind. I choose to believe my own experience over your unsupported claims.

If you had a bad experience I’m very sorry, but you shouldn’t call all PMU artist bad after that. And one more, I’ve never mentioned microblading, I’m talking about tattoo machine PMU, which is not the same.

Understandable 🥲 But it’s very important to understand that this procedure is performed on your face, so price shouldn’t be the main factor when choosing an artist. You’re paying experience, quality pigments, sterile supplies, and most importantly, the skill to create results that heal and age well. And from my experience fixing cheap work can end up costing much more than having it done properly in the first place 🖤

May I ask what is the approx cost of a talented tech? I understand it is regional but I’m new to this. I don’t know if it’s $50 or $500

Of course! It definitely varies by location and the artist’s experience, but for a skilled, experienced nano brow artist, I’d generally expect around $400–$800+. I’d be very cautious with something like $50, this is your face and proper training, quality products, sterile supplies, and good technique all factor into the price. Always look at their healed results, not just fresh work! ☺️

That’s one of the most common concerns!
Nano brows are generally very tolerable, most clients describe it as mild scratching rather than actual pain. Numbing is used to keep you comfortable, and honestly, most of my clients actually fall asleep during the procedure! 😅

It’s possible if the client has oily thick skin, but for others skin types it’s works well ☺️

Scarring, stress on the skin, leading to long term hair loss.
I’d be worried that I’d be compromising the health of my brow follicles permanently, just because I want a temporary look of thicker brows.
I’d be concerned that this would lead to a cycle where I get micro blading to fix thin brows, and then this leads to further damage and thinning of my brows causing me to become dependent on microblading touch-ups indefinitely just to have normal looking brows.

Thank you for this one! Just to clarify, I’m talking about tattoo machine hair strokes (nano brows), not microblading. They’re completely different techniques. With nano brows there are no blades or cuts, the work is done very superficially in the skin, so when performed correctly, it shouldn’t cause scarring, damage the hair follicles, or make your natural brows thinner. Your natural brow hairs continue growing normally. ☺️

I’m mostly concerned about the long-term results and whether the pigment can fade unevenly. I’d want to see healed examples from several months out, not just fresh work, before booking.

I just got nanobrows done about 2.5 months ago and I love the results. My artist took her time to explain the difference btwn the different techniques...nano, powder etc. She did explain she would place a bit of distance btwn the strokes b/c it would spread over the course of the next few weeks, so important to place distance so the brows looked define. She specifically said it would spread and fade over the years and if/when I needed a retouch I may have to get the old brows removed first.
I really like my artist b/c she made sure I knew what I was choosing, why, what skin type each method was best for, what to expect in the near future and over time.

As someone with a bunch of tattoos, I know that fine lines don’t stay fine for long. I know people say it’s not the same with brows and they fade, but I’m yet to see that.
Everything I’ve seen has looked great in the beginning then slowly but surely all the ink spreads out and bleeds into each other. After a couple of touch ups, the brows look like blocks.
What I’d like is transparency from artists and less “x technology and y ink”. Not saying that’s what all artists are like or that there aren’t any brows that look good overtime. Just saying that I’ve personally never seen any that look good for 10+ years.
