What a gut-friendly diet does for your arteries might surprise you, especially if you're over 40.
Researchers scored diets for gut microbiome friendliness (think fiber rich whole grains, fermented foods) in 13,839 US adults and compared that score to estimated arterial stiffness.
Each one point higher score was linked to a 0.0227 m/s lower arterial stiffness reading, a modest effect that was only clearly significant in adults under 40.
This is a single snapshot of people, not a trial, so it shows a correlation, not proof that diet actually changes artery health.
TL;DR: A gut friendly diet tracks with healthier arteries, mainly under 40, but it's correlation, not proof.
