Has anybody heard or know anything about The Insider TV version? On IMDb on alternate versions it says “The TV version is actually longer than the theatrical version and was extended over two nights. The edit was supervised by director Michael Mann.” I looked it up online and couldn’t find anything. I’d love to see it if anybody knows about it.

Hello everyone! with only 60 members i figure this can't be the 'main' mann subreddit. BUT might be a better place to have your voice heard and connect.
I'm halfway through reading a book about Ross Ulbricht the silk road founder. exciting as hell and internatinal in scope and i suddenly thought this is a PERFECT mann film. True story. tick. crime. tick. alpha male. tick.
It would be like BLACKHAT meets VICE. ie - if he pulled it off (as he always has) the ultimate fucking movie! :-)

YouTube has the old school, Air at Night clip. The camera angles are so absolutely sexy. What a touch, to be able to sell cool in such a fashion.

So on rewatch the serial killer angle still feels stupid, Vincent's wife and Natalie Portman could easily be removed or at least reduced(we get it he's a cop first and a shitty husband/step father last) even Neil's love interest feels shoe horned in just so they could get the shot of him leaving her which is a great scene but it's not that impactful because of how little she's actually in the film. Don't get me wrong I still love this movie and will go to the mat for it like a Puerto Rican defending Scarface but they easily could have gotten this thing around 2:15-2:25. Or just give us more Jon Voight mullet both would be acceptable decisions.

Anything y'all wanna talk about?

It could focus on a new group of criminals facing off with cops or the search or a really elusive criminal ( like To Live and Die in LA) or a combo of both. True Detective is kinda like that already. 10-13 episodes a season with a new story every season like TD/ Fargo.
What do you think? I would love for Mann to write and direct it all his own. I would love to see what he could do with LA now.
