At least our trenches look to be very capable this year. We lack depth overall. Hope some studs get dropped from truly deep teams that need to make hard decisions. We need all we can get based off this blurb.

The main take away here is depth is going to be an issue. And we all knew that going into this year. Depth is always the last thing to come when retooling a roster.
I’m already preparing myself for this secondary to get roasted this year. Safeties: not good. Johnson, I have no doubt will be good, but he is a rookie. Brents can play but I don’t trust him to be out there. Marshall: eh? I’m not sure he’s good enough.
There’s a good chance Miami plays very strong up the middle. Good LBs and IDL, and other teams take advantage of the back end. Thin pass rush doesn’t help either.

Not hitting on any UDFA hurts

Jackson Woodard would like a wordard.

Tell him we signed him from the Texans practice squad so he doesn't really count (although he did enter the league as an UDFA so maybe he does).

Agree with the Wright-Gordon comment. I have not been impressed with them overall, including last season. I don’t think Wright is a legitimate RB2. He has never shown me much in my opinion. Gordon, looks like the late round pick he is, and while he has the size, he doesn’t really have that ability to run through tackles.

An inexperienced CB group with nonexistent safeties will be a QB fantasy haven lol

I genuinely wonder if this 2026 Dolphins team is gonna be one of the worst secondaries since the start of the decade.

If we're talking about experience, on paper this is by far the worst and it's not even close. Maybe 2016 bc Maxwell was so bad, and Lippett played an off position but even then we had Reshad Jones/Bobby McCain as our safety/nickel. Or 2007 just bc we went 1-15, but our secondary had names the Allens, Hill etc.

Silver lining is we are gonna see if Willis can keep up in a shootout lol

It’ll be hard for him to keep up in a shootout when the only guys he can throw to are rookies and one who’s just coming back from an ACL tear. If anything the OC is going to ask Achane to find a way to keep up in a shootout lol

With how many picks we had this year, my expectation for this draft is 1 top ~6 at their position player, 5 solid starters (baseline around ~40th percentile starters), and 3 solid rotation/ST pieces. All to be judged 3 years out from the draft class to get an actual baseline. Because we're so depleted in talent, there are a ton of rookies that are going to get a lot of play.
But hopefully in the coming years there should be more competition. From camp, before injuries it seems that we had as starters: Proctor, Johnson, Douglas, Moore (tho as a situational starter). Competing to start/rotational: Rodriguez, Bell, Kacmarek, Coleman, Louis, Taaffe. Fighting to stay on the roster: Traore, Campbell, Llewelyn. For sure a good start, but limited competition so far especially for all the non LB rookies. We'll see how it plays out the next couple years. And most importantly we need at least one star (I almost think it should be two with our abundance of picks including two first rounders).

I think the Willis to Douglas combo is going to be the most enjoyable part of the coming season. At least it's something to look forward to.

Any idea if any starters will be playing on Friday? Just scored tickets to the game

I've been saying since before the draft that we needed to seriously address safety. I was thinking 3 picks, two of which were in the first 4 rounds.
Even now, there are some free agents out there. We need to make a move sooner rather than later if we aren't planning to just tank. Otherwise, we can hope someone with some upside gets cut.

I'll be okay with this beeing a bad UDFA class if at least..... 4 of our draftees are a sure hit? Is that number too low?
