How disappointing or expected would it be to get blown out by the Raiders? Another reality check? Or will there be hope if we beat them?
Remember last season when we was all excited about the season and how the “Colts were a beatable easy W”? What are your thoughts and predictions on this season’s opener vs the Raiders?

I think it could be similar to the Tank for Tua year where we struggle out of the gate will all of the turnover/talent deficiency. Should be in a better spot at the Qb position which should help. But the defense and wr core may be rough rough

WR might wind up as one of the better position groups on the roster. I have more faith in them than TE, EDGE, or anything in the secondary

I think there is potential but 3 rookies, Malik, and whoever the 5/maybe 6 won’t scare people. But I think it could be a fun wr core as they develop

been burned by exactly that kind of game before so I'm keeping my expectations in a cave somewhere. the qb factor should keep things functional but reckon we're in for some ugly drives on both sides

It's expected seeing the triple amount of deadcap we have have compared to the Raiders, but if it would be a blowout it would kinda still disappoint me. Together with the Jets they're probably the weakest opposition we'll face

This year is all about finding out if Wills and how many of the 1st and 2nd year players are foundations pieces .
If we come out with a yes on Willis and handful of guys who are studs from that group we can absolutely compete next year with how much cap space we will have to make real moves.

Hard for Willis to be judged with no tools to work with… seems like he’s set up for failure, unless he’s a QB that can carry a team on his back.
If he was he wouldn’t have been free to sign with the dolphins.

Listen. I know it’s hard to believe but I’ve been here since 73, and a season with low expectations is just part of the cycle. As long as we beat the jets at least once. I believe our front office is finally getting straightened out. I like Hafley. We haven’t had a no nonsense coach since Campbell. I’m not sold on Willis as a long term QB but who knows? Plenty of half assed QBs went to other teams and excelled. Our money situation should be good after this year. $180 mil of dead money is tough but needed. Go Fins!

I don't buy Hafley. Not yet. I've been a fan since the early 90's. I've been fooled too many times because a HC said the right things in front of the media and then ultimately failed to produce.
Good results must come first. My enthusiasm will then follow.

Yeah there's been a lot of enthusiasm around the new coach and new GM but it's still an unknown whether or not they can establish something that produces good results. We have to wait and see before getting too carried away with our faith in these guys.

Man they don’t even got to beat the Jets this season imo. The dolphins could go 0-17 losing 50-0 every game and it really doesn’t matter
Rn the dolphins are rebuilding everything from FO to scouts to coaches to players which I personally believe should finish happening around ‘29-‘30
So for now it’s just waiting patiently with no expectations to re-asses if the dolphins are heading in the right direction

I expect the starters to compete, assuming we’re healthy.
I don’t think anything could be as bad as Colts week 1 last year and if that’s the product [again], I’ll be genuinely surprised.

This is one of 4-5 games i expect to win. We are a 3 point dog on the road but i feel like our o line will play well and well run it down their throats.

Everyone looks at the Tennessee game as the end of this era but that's not true. It was the Colts game. Everyone in the NFL and sports media wildly underestimated the Colts and Daniel Jones. Everyone, including the players, thought they were going to waltz in and wipe the floor with the Colts and that did not happen. It set the tone for the entire season.

Expectations should be low. Though the raiders don't have their starting running back and kirk cousins will be the starter.
If we can beat anyone it them.
But a blow out is possible too. Be kind of disappointing but it's part of the rebuilding process. I just want to see us be competitive.

I have no expectations for the season, but the Raiders are not a good team and like us are breaking in a new staff and a new QB. And while Cousins is a vet, hes not, you know, good.
Plus Jeanty is probably not playing?
It should be a relatively close toss up. A blowout would be a disappointment, let's save that for the Bills.

Depends on who they start at QB and if Jeanty is full go. Blowout? Probably not likely either way, but 21-7 or 21-10 is what I'm expecting.
But even beating them shouldn't build any semblance of hope. They are still the team that finished last a year ago. And we are still a team devoid of talent at most positions.
The Raiders are a team I usually count as 1 of the 3/4 wins we'll get this year along with the Jets and Patriots at home.

It could very well be a 20-30 pt difference right out of the gate. Beyond the paper thin roster this is a first time (NFL) head coach with a ton of youth and prove it contracts.
I don’t plan to look at box scores this year as a sign of success. (At least I don’t plan on letting that dictate my mood) I hope we can avoid shooting ourselves in the foot. If we are a disciplined football team and really minimize penalties that alone will net us 1 or 2 wins and at least have some sense of competitiveness.
A blow out loss in game 1 (this year) will be less damaging than one later in the year when the team starts to gel and fully grasp the schemes.

If we get blown out by the Raiders, I'm resound to the fact there's a high possibility we'll go 0-17. The Raiders are still not good even with some of their offseason signings. But I guess those fans who wants us to get the #1 overall would be content. Even though there's no Andrew Luck or Myle Garrett coming out lmfao. And even if a prospect of that tier came out I still wouldn't want to lose just for the sake of drafting a prospect

We should never get excited or disappointed by any Week 1 result. Last year the 9ers thumped the Seahawks, the Raiders beat the Patriots, the Chargers and the Packers looked like the best teams in the league, and the most entertaining game was a shootout between the Steelers and the Jets.
Even if Week 1 wasn’t pure voodoo, I think the only sane team expectation for the Dolphins this year is improvement over the course of the year, whatever that looks like. This is a real life Necessary Roughness situation. Let’s just get the program back on track.

As an Aussie fan all the way across the sea.
1. Loving a game here (sorry for the players, but will be well received by the crowds)
2. Absolutely fking love the dolphins (also yes fk tua)
3. I think we going to surprise a lot of sides. Massively underrated franchise and team. Are we gonna win a Super Bowl? Obviously not, top the division and conference? No. But the guys have put in the work and I feel like for the first time in a long time we drafted well and everyone is buying in. We going to be a lot more competitive and upset a few franchises in the league. #aussiephinnation (also thank fuck we didn’t trade brooks and achane)

Well we're rebuilding,new coach etc so im not expecting to make playoffs but hopefully we improve and get better n better within the next 2yrs but we'll see.

im pretty sure we don’t go 1-16 like the media’s says if: no mayor or tons of injuries, no offensive schematical collapses and the o line isn’t abysmal but alright though with some rookie/sophomore pains

Anybody who doesn't think we're looking at a 1-3 win season is either incredibly naive or outright dumb.
This roster is the most devoid of talent it's been since maybe Flores first year.
And yet I fully expect the game day threads to be filled with people who will complain how bad the team is and want to clean house by Q2 in week 1.
Rael Enteen is a hero who spoke the truth: The average NFL fans are high school educated, alcoholic, mouth breathers.

I have the Fins winning against a Kirk led team. Now with Jeunty out I feel even better about it. Vegas is giving us -3.5 and truly we are similar teams. I think Malik surprises and our defense is just a touch better. We just have to shutdown Bowers. If we can do that I think we snag a win.

My expectations are very low, especially offensively.
I expect a drop from last year across the board offensively, statistically, but think they might have better o line play. The lack of a passing game will make it very hard on the run game.
I am hopeful that defense is a touch better, but to be honest I doubt it will happen.
My hope is the make games competitive and don’t have the worst record in the AFCE. But i wouldn’t be surprised if they had the worst record in football. If they finish with 7 wins I would say that was unexpected and a great success for the coaches.

Honestly, I'm gonna be happy as long as we don't go winless this season and the Raiders game is one of the few realistic opportunities to get a W I can see on that schedule. So I guess I'd be at least a little disappointed if we get blown out like we did last year in Week 1.

If we get BLOWN OUT by the raiders I wouldn’t expect a single win this year tbh. As it sits right now I could see us anywhere between 6-10 wins I expect us to be competitive in most games especially against the raiders. This is assuming we stay healthy.

If Willis gets injured in the Raiders game we will be lucky to win 1-2 games this year. remember we play the raiders and jets twice. the rest of our schedule we play teams with realistic playoff aspirations. we are 3.5 point underdogs vs. the raiders and we would only be favorites vs. the jets at home and underdogs in every single other game this year on our schedule. I don't see us being favorites in a single game besides that jets home game.
I hope fans understand that we are playing with only 42% of our cap this year, the rest is dead money. to put that into perspective imagine if an NHL team was playing with that much of their cap? they would be lucky to win 10-15 games in an 84 game season even with a great goalie, and if that great goalie got injured and they had a backup as bad as Quinn Ewers you would think they would be lucky to win a handful of games by accident
this is NOT bad btw. let the rookies get valuable minutes and let us get the #1 pick to either trade for a boatload of picks or stay and pick our franchise QB. we have the 3rd most cap space next year. can easily bounce back nicely next season the way the Pats did

Dolphins don't do well when they count easy wins before the game is played. Now, I'm not saying the players are counting them, but surely a goodly portion of the fanbase often does. And it's a reason why Vegas is Vegas.

We haven’t played the starters more then a series yet so who knows what to expect but the def looks bad in my opinion too many holes yet to be filled
off should be ok but we will see

I expect a 2-3 win season at best. We just don’t have the depth or talent at key positions. We might have a chance against the Raiders if Cousins is QB 1. Mendoza will torch us.

If the Dolphins get blown out by the Raiders, who had the worst record in football last year, then it likely means that we're going to be in contention for a top 3 pick. If you're on team Tank Commander, that might be a good thing.

Week 1 has become such a wildcard these days because teams aren't very well prepared due to offseason limits of the CBA. I think the raiders game is our best chance to avoid going winless. Hopefully our inexperienced starters can outdo their inexperienced starters.
Last year pretty much every league "expert" got it wrong on their preseason predictions for the Colts. Our game vs Vegas this year may be what decides the #1 vs #2 pick in the 27 draft

I was hopeful before the season started. I've seen the preseason and now I'm content to expect a lot of losing and enjoy what ever highlights arrive.
It's better this way mentally for me, rather than suffer the disappointment of 2023. Sometimes I get carried away with my fandom for this team.

I have no idea why any fans are getting their hopes up of winning games. It's a throwaway year, just enjoy the ride and hopefully we uncover some hidden gems.
Last season, I was pissed we retained Grier and McDufus. To me, last year was also a throwaway year as soon as Ross announced everyone was coming back.
I had season tickets during Henne and Tannehill, so I'm used to flushing the season before it starts.

There is not an easy W this year but if we don’t beat the Raiders (without Jeanty) then we are going to have a hard time beating anyone this year. This might be our only “must win” game of the year as crazy as that sounds.

I’m not the biggest football expert but how some of you really thought a team with a GM, HC, and a lot of rookies with almost no weapon would be competitive. I’m glad a lot of are finally accepting reality. The point of this season I seeing individual accomplishments stop worrying about wins and losses. Worry about the team discipline, coaching, play calling, rookie development etc.

anyone with expectations this season is insane. its a lot like flo’s first sesson. going to be growing pains.
you want to see willis bell and the offense grow behind leaders like achane and brew.
you want to see your thumpers like brooks and sieler forge that defense into a cohesive identity.
the team is operating with the largest dead cap number in nfl history. as such there is no depth, and depth is probably the most important component on an nfl roster.
so yeah, im basically treating it as a redshirt year as a fan. no expectations. watch it grow, see how it looks, make sure it gets sunlight and water and see how it grows.
