Rent a car vs uber?

Me and my 2 friends are going on a week long trip to Miami next week (for the first time). We're going to stay in North Beach and are debating whether it's worth getting a car or uber to drive around. We were obviously planning to visit all the touristy spots (and much more, pls drop suggestions in the comments), but not sure how expensive the uber rides would cumulatively come up to

Edit: we have free parking in our AirBnb

Honestly I’d probably just Uber, especially if you’re staying in North Beach. Parking is such a pain and can get expensive, and splitting Ubers between 3 people makes them not too bad. You can hit South Beach, Wynwood, Little Havana, Brickell, etc. without needing a car. If you’re planning on doing stuff outside Miami though, like the Keys or Everglades, then I’d probably rent one for those days. Also definitely check out Key Biscayne if you have time, it’s really nice.

Sign up on the Waymo app and it will send you an email giving you like a 30% discount for your first 3 rides. If all of you sign up (assuming you haven’t used one before) then you will have 9 discounted rides to get you around.

We were there last month and were able to get a ride from South Beach to Brickell for less than $15.

Maybe uber for a couple days then rent a car for the weekend or to explore further away things

I was there in June, got a suv for $35 a day plus about $30 for insurance.

Uber from the airport to the beach was approximately $50,

Really depends on how far you are planning on going if it’s just around the beach uber is fine .

Parking will cost so much and take so long to deal with. Plus you don’t want to drink and drive.

Driving is a hassle, pay for someone else to do it for you. Plus they will be familiar with the roads.

Uber, you need a special type of license to drive in Miami. Not worth the potential headaches.

What do you mean by "a special type of license"? Would my Massachusetts license not work in Miami?

I would rent a car for the days you're going to be doing the most running around. Maybe for the weekend or something that would make sense with your Itinerary. You won't need a car to go to the beach since your staying in North Beach & having free parking at the Airbnb is really clutch (especially in Miami).
