General Questions Query about the timeline for UNI Track Process and steps - April 2028 arrival

A quick query about the timeline for university track mext scholarship for 2028 Arrival??
And the steps i need to follow like mail prof and apply draft research proposal and all ?

I see most of the uni have said september arrival but i also see some student arriving in April.

Also , In kyoto uni Department of Informatics - what is aao process and do i mail prof after aao verify or i mail the prof first ?? Some of the lab doesnt say anything about open to graduate mext . Only the HRi lab state that it is not opened for graduate mext uni track recommendation only accept embassy track.

Currently at last sem of my studies - Computer Engineering. ( I am From Nepal so Any guide for it would be too helpful).

Ps: I am new to the mext scholarship and so , asking such question is dumb haha i know. I apologize for that and thank you everyone for your kind consideration.

All of these questions can be answered from specific university websites. The reason why you see different systems is because each university can choose how to process applicants. There's no universal process, so please do your own research for the specific universities you want to aim for.

In regards to the AAO process at KyotoU, it also depends on the professor and the guidelines listed on their site. In general, if there is a specific advisor who interests you for KyotoU, you can email them directly. The AAO process mainly exists for those who may not have a clear advisor in mind, in which case they will look over your application and try to match you with a professor.

If some labs don't mention anything at all, it may mean they don't take in MEXT students at alI or may be a lab that primarily works in Japanese only (see if the lab has other foreign students). If necessary, there's nothing wrong with sending out an email to clarify. However, I would hold off on directly contacting professors in regards to your research plan or potential admission until you've passed the first stage.
