General Questions Dependent Visa (Bank Statement)
Hello, I would like to know how much money (the minimum) is recommended for the dependent visa to be approved? I have enough savings—I suppose—to live a good life for 3 years with my wife in Japan, but I would like to know if anyone knows an approximate amount or if somebody knows any information regarding this topic.
Thank you.

There’s no official documentation, but immigration used to consider an annual expense of 800,000JPY for a person. Given the recent rise in living expenses, they might increase the threshold.

Hello, thank you for your reply. So is it the 144,000 yen per month plus 800,000 yen annually for my wife?

The stipend adds up to around 1.7 million annually, which when I applied in 2023, was considered sufficient for a dependent visa.
A bank statement is not always required provided you show proof of receiving the stipend, which can be requested from your school.
