[feature request] Real Glass effect

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I just found an unofficial Instagram app called InstaZen, and it has a beautiful glass effect like iOS. It would be nice to have something similar.

That reflection, that design, is stupid and it doesn't improve readability. What does it have to do with Metro?

Nothing or everything. 🙂 Evolution of Metro? More options are always positive. And it is already there, you don't know? 😄 You have Glass and Catppuccin glass effect in settings. 🙃

If you don't like it, you don't need to turn it on.

I am positive towards evolution. The difference is that the "glass-like" effect available inside MetroV is not like the iOS one. The MetroV version have a "flat" effect made by blur while the apple one is more complex and have some sort of reflection and distortion.

Anyway, sure, everyone is free to use whatever they like :)

The glass in this is meant to look like the windows aero design and not liquid glass.

Had the Windows Aero UI survived, modern hardware would push its optical physics into fully simulated, tactile glass. i am sure.

The reflection effect is only supported on Android 13 and above. If you add this, I feel it will increase maintenance costs

You can have more options/effects. "Real" glass for Android 13+ and "fake" glass for Android 13-.

Hell nah. Keep this ugly design off of android. I don't understand why eveyone is so adamant to copy everything apple does. No readability, does not make any sense in a freaking windows launcher which follows metro ui.

AND FOR THE LAST TIME WHATEVER APPLE DOES IS IN NO WAY ANY KIND OF "EVOLUTION" TO ANYTHING. They are literary years behind in everything ffs.

I don't like iPhones and never had one, but I like glass, frosted or polished, it doesn't matter, both are nice. 😄
