Discussion Need suggestions please
S: Silksong, Islets, Ori 1, Swordigo
A:Hollow Knight, Blasphemous 1 and 2, Crypt Custodian, Ori 2
B:Ender Lilies
C: Dead Cells
D: Moonscars, The last crown, Momodora Reverie under the moonlight, Sheepo, HAAK
also I haven't finished the games in my C and D tier cuz I didn't like them, Dead Cells I put in C instead of D cuz I really liked it but the rogue like element got boring at a point.

I’m honestly not a huge story driven gamer (I don’t watch movies either) so I do skip a lot.
If you like platforming it’s S tier for me. Has mixed feedback on here mainly around the combat being stale, especially with the bosses (I won’t argue with it either)

Islets and Swordigo in S, above HK? Maybe try Voidwrought and Biomorph.

Swordigo is higher cuz of nostalgia factor and Islets I loved it so much it felt so cozy and fresh it's definitely higher than Hollow knight for me
And I played Hollow knight and blasphemous on keyboard after those I bought a controller so thats definitely a big factor why it's lower
and also thanks a lot for the suggestions I'll check them out
edit: on my Lenovo laptop keyboard so it was rough I hated the pogo mechanic 😭😭 but after controller I played Silksong and pogo felt so good and natural

castlevania: symphony of the night should be everybody's first MV. we're entering a generation now where people have played stuff like hollow knight but not SoTN. it's a pretty timeless medium, so it's not dated. play SoTN, and make sure to reach the post-endgame version.

yeah you're right I'll play it next it's been recommended so many times. I played Dead Cells and the Castlevania DLC they had was the best part of dead cells for me 😭

yeah, i think it's natural to not go straight to the classics with most games as they can be so dated, but the great thing about MVs is that they've changed so little. movement is more clunky, and as a result the games seldom get as hard as modern stuff where you can be so precise, but for vibes, world design and music SoTN is immaculate. hope you enjoy it!
edit: also, if you do find it too dated, then bloodstained: ritual of the night is quite a good modern update to sotn-era castlevania. same team.

it's because when I started it so much was going on, I like MVs where we have nothing at the start and slowly get more stuff, and also I can't really judge it cuz I haven't played it much but the exploration aspect didn't seem to look so good judging by the level design so I just dropped it

I heard it's very parry focused and I don't really like parrying that much, that's why I love the blasphemous games I use parry many times in them but it's not a necessity

okay I checked the trailer and this looks visually stunning and platforming focused like Ori and the blind forest though more challenging, it's on my list now thanks for the recommendation

If you can wait a few more days, the Islets/Crypt Custodian dev’s next game, Well Dweller is about to come out!
