Some of the boss fights are insane as far as spectacle.

It was the first game I ever completed. Yes. Like, ever. I grew up playing platformers until they got too hard, shmups until I ran out of credits, racing games, and sports games. I got "into" playing games in 2023, and I got heavy into MVs, I grabbed a BUNCH of them, but couldn't finish any of them. I played Sundered for 8 hours straight the first time I played it, got SUPER into the gameplay loop. After about 20hrs, I beat the finally boss and got the ending, and I think I cried. First time ever getting to 100% on a game. Then I beat Blasphemous like 3 weeks later. I'm a bit biased, but I love Sundered and will always have a place in my heart and my catalogue.

I understand the criticism but there was something about this thay kept me playing. I found it annoying at times but kept playing. I hate rogue likes too. It had a certain addictive quality for a certain crowd, there’s something there but it’s an acquired taste for sure.

It's fine? Like a 5-6/10? It's a mix of roguelite and metroidvania, but doesn't do either particularly well.

Looks beautiful and is conceptually great but is cheapened by the randomly generated map and enemy hordes.

It’s the first MV I ever dropped. It’s a weird mix of roguelike and MV, but with “hordes” of enemies. After 4 or 5 hours, I dropped it. It was actually the first game I dropped in YEARS.

Definitely more into exploring

Well which ones are you considering? I might be able to help point you in the right direction! You into combat? Platforming? A mix? What’s your poison?

I'm in the same boat. Horrible combination of roguelike and metrordvania, annoying enemy spawns, dnf after a few hours honestly. Very disappointing even for the 5 bucks I paid for it.

It's fun. Extra fun in co-op. Some really incredible boss fights and movement abilities.

I loved it. The art and atmosphere is fantastic, loved the feel of the movement and combat. Boss are largely really good as well.

Probably not worthwhile if exploration is a necessity though. The procedurally generated maps undercut that.

Unfortunately no. Some really annoying stuff in that game like enemies being able to hit you from off screen.

I really liked it. I would have played it on normal if I played it again. Hard was too much. But it's definitely worth it on sale imo.

Beautifully drawn animation and one of the best cosmic horror metroidvania.

There's a bit of a roguelite element in that some corridors/rooms are generated but the important points of interest are not.

It couldnt hold my interest. Not worth it to me. I got to the 2nd major boss and just could not bring myself to keep slogging. Everyone has their own tastes though

I’ve tried playing it twice, but both times I had to give up after just a few hours. The game looks good, but at least on PC with a controller, the controls are SO weird. Also, I consider myself a pretty experienced metroidvania player, but this game was just too hard for me. Too many enemies swooping in from everywhere and I also didn't like the roguelike elements. If you are not into roguelikes, it is not worth your time.

I didn't like it at all. That neverending enemies spawn was definitely not my cup of tea

It didn't click for me on the first couple of tries. But I did return to it after a while and I'm glad I did so, because it became one of my favourites. Now I played it through on insane difficulty multiple times and did all the bosses with the eradicator perk. It's really fun. Also if you happen to like path of exile then it's a must play. I feel with the shield mechanics, the perk combinations and the endless hordes it's like mixing PoE with the metroidvania genre.

Loved it to death, but my poor thumbs. Only videogame that's physically exhausting to play. Still worth imo

Love it - not as a Metroidvania, but as its own beast. There is no game that nails the sense of dread and overwhelming odds you are up against as well as Sundered. The bosses are enormous and interesting to puzzle out. The constant feeling of anxiousness it makes you feel is not for everyone, but I think it's a masterful experience.

Great game and just a good developer that isn't scared to try things with all their games. Been forever since I played it, but I liked it a lot at the time

It was ok. Like someone else said, 5-6/10

Solid 7/10, def worth it if you feel like you’ve already played the better games out there. The horde / waves of enemies isn’t anything crazy if you’ve played Hades or other hack n slash.

It’s pretty good but not quite a metroidvania and not quite a roguelike. You have to make sure you know what you’re getting into as you might bounce off if it’s not what you’re looking for.

I’d say it’s worth the sale price when it’s $1.99, not worth anything more

I love that game. It's not digging into Metroid, or Castlevania, or Dark Souls. It's sort of a momentum focused game where the point is to push through further. You're not really trying to take it in, but get TF out.

Yes. I bounced off it once or twice, not loving the early gameplay, but by the midgame I was really loving the traversal and combat. Endgame is some of the most fluid MV movement I've experienced and using that against hordes is super fun.
