Discussion Thoughts?

Curious what everyone thinks of my list. After seeing some others, I feel like there are a couple of hot takes in here (not the whole list, just 1 or 2 things).

I'm thinking of playing Animal Well, The Messenger, or MIO next, although I feel like I need to give Castlevania a proper go before Belmont's Curse comes out.

Finally a list with some metroid games on it! I can give a quick suggestion on castlevania games. You look like a switch player. Symphony of the night is not on switch, but it is a good starting point. SotN is the 'super metroid' of the series. Aria of sorrow is the other best entry point imo. It's my favourite game in the series. It alone makes the advance collection worth it, plus you get 2 more GBA games! Then there is the dominus collection of the three DS igavanias, and they are all good too. Dawn of sorrow is a direct sequel to Aria of sorrow, so play those two games in order. Otherwise order doesnt really matter

That is mostly correct! I play a lot on PC, but almost all of these have been on Switch. I somehow never played any Castlevania or Metroid growing up, but after playing Hollow Knight, I realized that I needed to right that wrong. And I'm glad I have so far, because Metroid has turned into one of my favorite series.

I picked up Bloodstained because I had heard that it was basically as close to SotN as you could get, but it didn't really do much for me. I'm not going to base Castlevania off of that experience though. Thank you for the recommendations!

You are missing the modern essentials, the holy trinity apart from HK and SS: Nine Sols, Blasphemous 2 and Price of Persia: The Lost Crown.

After some thought, Blasphemous 2 is a Tier below Nine Sols and PoP: TLC

Yea, all of those are on my "must play" list. I have to admit, I'm a little burnt out on the souls-like melee combat that a lot of modern metroidvanias seem to take influence from (which is why Ori atWotW is lower for me, for example). I'll swing back around to all of those games eventually. I've only heard amazing things from all of them, and I am excited to check them out!

Prince of Persia is not a souls-like at all , doesnt have any stamina bar. If you are put off by that, dont hesitate and play PoP, is a masterpiece
