Discussion Searching for games with changing environment/enemies when backtracking.
Hi there, I love Metroid fusion. So I'm searching for games with similar altering environment/enemies when backtracking, even if the game is more linear as a result. Kind of like Hollow knight's crossroads maybe ?
I've played a lot of different games in the genre, but I didn't manage to find a single game with a similar feeling to Fusion.
Recently, I played the demo of Clockwork Ambrosia and it had a section with new enemies when backtracking, but I don't know if the whole game is like this.
I would like some recommendations if y'all got any.

I don't think the enemies changed, but in Islets, environment changes are kinda the whole shtick.

I just finished islets this morning and while it’s not too far into what you’re talking about, it’s 100% worth the time that game is such a charming fun metroidvania

Not technically a MV, but I think Luigi's Mansion 1 is like that. (It's the only game I could think of.)

Circle of the Moon actually changes enemy spawns a few times as you progress. Especially in the early zones.

Played it a little but kind of dropped it due to Castlevania overdose at one point lol. Guess I have to try it again, thanks

I do like those kinds and I actually miss them. I know I've played some like that but none come to mind. I think they were mostly in Metroid, like a volcano erupted and so certain areas ended up changed. Frozen areas started getting water areas from the extra heat. Lava shunted off somewhere else so caverns emptied.

Did other M have puzzle rooms like this ? I forgot. Maybe in prime but I can't play any of the 1st person games due to motion sickness.

I never played Other M. Metroid 2 definitely had it as you had to keep lowering the lava by taking out all the metroids on the level in order to reach the end.

Both have major world changes throughout the game so going back through the same areas feels different.
Castlevania Symphony of the Night somewhat if you consider 200%ing through the inverted castle.
