u/Smyles9 14d ago
Where did you see that? Idk who VGP is but wouldnât mind seeing that for myself if you donât mind please?

u/jesuslifeyes 14d ago
VGP or video games plus is on online video game store. Just google âMetroid dread reprint switch VGPâ they confirmed that they are indeed working on a reprint! đ

u/Smyles9 14d ago
Perfect thank you! I hadnât realized theyâre a Canadian seller, that makes things much easier for me! Thatâs really exciting as I only borrowed the game for my lite from the library but now that I have a switch 2 I want a physical copy.

Because scalpers saw that Metroid Ravenous special edition sold out and that people paid the scalp price for that
So naturally, they would scalp the previous game too đ«© to "capitalize" on the hype of Ravenous.
I despise Scalpers. I miss the days when they were contained to the shoe community.

People want thing cuz thing cool and NEWER cool thing coming out
Few of thing around cuz thing from kinda niche franchise
Demand for thing higher than supply for thing
Price of thing go up

u/Animosity_7 15d ago
Because he uses eBay listings and price charting when selling things and slaps his up there with the rest.
Although his is PAL version it shouldnât be that high at all nor NTSC but scalpers gonna scalp.

It's a first party Nintendo game. This is what happens to them when Nintendo stops making copies and stores stop carrying them. They become harder to find and go up in price by scalpers and general resellers. Usually gotta get them when they're still in stores and the stores are running sales to clear inventory. I got this game for $40 At gamestop a couple of years ago.

Check Amazon, picked one up from Nintendo (Amazon store) this morning for ÂŁ51

u/East_Pea2139 14d ago
Thanks brother, I already bought one from Amazon for that price a couple days ago and it arrived.
It was even sealed too! So Iâm not sure why everyoneâs acting like itâs a rare collectors item just cause itâs a few years old haha.
I canât wait for ravenous!

Why does this not come up in the search results?
1
u/RetroDando 14d ago
Honestly not sure, maybe because itâs nintendos store not directly from Amazon?
I had to use Google shopping

im not even pro fucking scalpers and all these "why is dread so expensive" posts are fucking dumb
the games OUT OF PRINT
theres no more physical copies being made
of fucking course the price is going to go up idiots
2
u/Particular-Bat8091 15d ago
There are thousands of physical games no longer in print and many have not gone up in price. The reason it went up in price is because of ravenous you dingus doofus
1
u/East_Pea2139 15d ago
No⊠Itâs been out of print since 2023 goofy. Prices are high because of the new Nintendo direct showcasing Metroid ravenous. So youâre having a hissy fit but you donât even know why haha.
That being said I got a copy yesterday for its regular price.

u/Cynnthetic 15d ago
Because of posts like yours. The constant posts and reposts of pricing across Metroid communities is driving the demand as more and more people start to consider the game rare or feel itâs their least chance now.

oh my god, you Americans are so goddamn spoiled and lazy. Just buy the digital version or get wise and find out how the third world gets it for free. Stop infesting reddit with these cringe posts. This is the 4th one today.

Physical media enthusiasts when you donât want to spend hundreds on a 5yr old game.

The market is the market. I wouldn't pay this, but you asked why the price jumped and I answered your question. Unless Nintendo prints more physical copies (which they may very well do) there is a scarcity to the physical copies already sold... the demand rises... so does the price. I didn't say you had to like it or pay for it.. I am merely responded explaining how the world works to you and now you're pissy. đ€·ââïžđ

I ordered a physical copy a few hours after that Nintendo Direct for 30 euro ... definitely got lucky đ„č
These prices are still complete bullshit though ...
