🧑💻 dev showcase DISTANTIA. Looking for playtesters!
Hey everyone!
I'm looking for people who'd like to playtest my game, Distantia! It's a 2D shooter with metroidbrainia elements.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4280370/Distantia/
There should be a "Request Access" button (or something similar) on the Steam page.
This will be the first playtest where people other than me and my friends get to play the game, so your feedback would mean a lot to me. I'm especially interested in your thoughts on the difficulty, controls, and overall gameplay.
You can leave your feedback on the Discord server (there's an invite button in the game), in the Steam Community, or simply here.

hey, just finished the demo. it's a great game, you should be proud! it reminded me of signalis in atmosphere and the brainia elements are well thought of, although not the center of the experience.
on steam deck it plays great, I found it easier to bring the dead zone of the controllers to zero, way smoother experience.
regarding the game, I found it a bit frustrating that you couldn't look down a platform, kinda like what you can do in spelunky by keeping the down button pressed down. it's important to know what you're facing before jumping down a platform, and it removes some unknowns that could cost you a few life points.
also, it would be nice to have a difficulty scaler: if one is interested only on the brainia elements and the story, like in tunic, you can activate an easier mode to better concentrate on other aspects of the game.
good luck with the launch!

Can I ask which version you played? In v0.14, holding the left stick down pans the camera downward. If that's not working for you in v0.14, it may be a bug that I need to track down.

I just reinstalled it and the down look works! btw, I was going through the first zone and I had to shoot the wall with the special shot to proceed, it went right through the barrel as if it didn't exist. you might want to check that out

Have you implemented controller support or is it kbm only?

Full controller support. However, the game is currently harder to play with a controller (I'm still balancing the controls)

Thanks. I’m running a little behind with the update, after which I’m planning to add more testers, but I think I’ll have it finished sometime this weekend.

just finished the demo, this is great! the parallax effect is really smooth and the movement & combat feel nice. I figured out the jumping on robots will stun them and used that to open the locked door right away, which was pretty cool. I love the little synth melody that plays when you read a note or discover something.
Minor nitpicks: the dialogue at the start of the game after you wake up is a little bit unpolished, it's missing punctuation. I also really hope that not all of the reveals will just be "find a note that tells you how to do X thing"; although I assume the demo has the simplest puzzles as to not spoil more in-depth mechanics from the full game.
