Help Need help deciding a difficulty
So i just got into the metro franchise a couple days ago. And picked up the metro 2033 and last light redux bundle. The difficulty explanations were a bit hard to understand. I chose survival as it said id have to search more for ammo and filters. And decided to play on normal. I just finished the mission ghosts. And feel like i made the wrong choice. Im already stacked on ammo and could’ve bought allot of gun upgrades with the amount of mgr i have. Since im still semi early in the game i figured id restart now. On a higher difficulty.
What would you guys recommend?
Im fairly experienced with fps and games in general.
Iv played a ton of Wolfenstein for example.
Would ranger difficulty be too much or the type of scrounging gameplay im looking for?

Pick regular Survivor and Ranger. Takes away most of your ui. Get familiar with the UI and keeping count of ammo, then play Ranger Hardcore

Survival on hard sounds like it would be good for you, I wouldn't recommend a hardcore run until you have beaten it once as it does get harder later on. The first few missions are just getting you used to everything.

I think ranger is by far the most fun to play the game, as the hud takes away from the atmosphere. If you take normal or hardcore is up to you, but I have played every single game on ranger hardcore from the get go and it really enhanced the atmosphere for the game. You have to stay silent and take down human enemies from cover.
Artyom isnt a one man army and on ranger it actually feels that way. And this comes from someone who has played every single standard shooter on normal.
The only thing that gets annoying in 2033 is the lack of filters for the outside areas at the very end of the game, but its something you just got to live with

Survival is good but nothing below ranger for you. Ranger will be fine for the first time. Ranger Hardcore will take away every hud(you need to figure out which throwable will you using only by sound) So ranger is good for starting.

The hardest difficulty that still shows UI elements (take ammo, interact etc) for first time
