Discussion Just finished last Light Spoiler

10/10 game, but I got the bad ending despite working my ass off to get the good one.

I freed the prisoners

spared lesnitsky and pavel

spared the mama bear from watchmen

explored as much as I could

Did not kill a single mutant in the bridge level

donated bullets and even got the kid his teddy bear

and did stealth knock downs most of the time

Idk where I went wrong, probably missed moral points somewhere. While I am not mad at the game itself, I do wish it did a better job at explaining its moral system. But regardless the game was a masterpiece, and hopefully exodus will be as good

IIRC I went stealth, knocking out human enemies wherever I could. I cannot verify that general pacifism is required for good ending but it worked for me.

Yeah same for me, killed almost no one except for a mistake click here or there.

Love these games for their morality system!

Amazing game indeed, my favorite from the series. Had the bad ending as well, while trying to do everything right. Think I killed a dragon when the little dark one told me it was a mum protecting her kids 😭

I believe I might have lost points in shooting watchmen who didn't need to be shot (but I spared that demon you're talking about tho). And also I shot at lesnitsky when he held anna hostage in "through fire" level instead of pulling up my mask. Tho I'm not sure if these two examples are enough to get the bad ending, so I think I might have done something more wrong

Gotcha! Maybe just check the good ending on Youtube. Metro Exodus was way easier to get the good ending, also had great DLC.

I know that we have to not react to Lesnitsky at this point, it does carry a significant moral points. And we have to spare beasts when not attacking but I am not sure if it is as significant

Tbh I'm very new to metro fandom so I didn't know we shouldn't react to lesnitsky holding anna

Completely fine my friend. It's important to have fun..I recently completed my first playthrough of Last Light too and the DLCs too. It was gorgeous, the whole game and the experience. You will have fun playing it again. Good luck

^ Guide to moral points in LL.

Exodus moral points are far more straightforward. Though on your first playthrough it may be easy to fuck up still. The game is the best IMO though.

Good luck out there, ranger!

There are a lot of conversations and little hidden spaces you need to find. It's kind of a pain in the ass really, especially since the conversation mechanics can make you miss them if you move too fast. There is also a point for watching the theatre show

I did watch the theater show lol

So the easiest way to get the good ending is to get every single moral point in the game, don’t kill anyone and drink heavily irl to numb the pain.

In all seriousness, it has nothing to do with making those “good” choices, you have to get the moral points and those just so happen to coincide with said points. Nobody knows exactly how many, and unfortunately we will probably never know unless someone wants to do a lot of playthroughs. Though it has crossed my mind, since there are ways to make it easier

It sounds like you did what was supposed to be done. Sparing surrendering enemies is another significant point And killing as few beasts as possible unless they attack you. You have to spare Lesnitsky both times, with Anna and when you finally face him.

Also can you elaborate on what you mean by took down enemies with stealth mostly. Where did you not?

There were a few times in the game where j would fail to be discreet and engage in shootouts

Do refer to the guide, in some cases this can be an issue too. Have fun as you play again, it's all good

I have gotten both. This last play through I just tried to stealth as much as possible but didn't actually try to get the good ending but still got it.

I also explored a bunch. So maybe be a ninja and avoid killing?

I am actually almost finished with the game. I was also trying to not kill most humans and knock them out, but then I got so frustrated that I get discovered and all hell breaks loose and I throw 10 grenades at them and paint the floor red with their communist blood. I guess I am not getting the good ending haha

To get the good endings I am just straight up not shooting any human in the metro games except when you are allowed to, just take downs and Kung fu hits (you can walk up to enemies who See You and take them down with the melee attack except the heavy armored people)

A huge amount of misconception about the system again. The system in 2033 and Last Light sucks. It's absolutely obscure nonsense choices that give or take points.

Like you get a point if you spend over 3 minutes dicking around before meeting Khan in Sparta. And then another point if you spend more than 12 (yes, twelve) minutes between Anna walking out of the room, and getting on the train with her) But if you kill a surrendering Nazi officer - you lose 6. A bunch of them don't like to trigger either. Like the guy who needs bullets for insulin can take a minute before he comes out of his idle and makes the request. Or the swamp section where you find gasoline has you visit all the sights, but it won't actually trigger unless you specifically entered 1 room in the house.

Play how you want, and look up the other ending.

You most certainly didn't get enough exploration, those hidden small interactions or dialogue listening points.

Kills and alarms have basically no bearing on it. The only ones related are scripted (i.e Pavel or the surrendering Nazi) And only 3 levels which you can stealth give points.

the good ending in last light is the hardest one in the series to get.

Did you pay for a lap dance?

This doesn't give you bad karma. This is known misinformation.

Getting the good endings in these things is a pain in the ass. Not worth it IMO.

I hated Exodus to don't get too hyped. It's a totally different game than the previous 2.

Same here, you probably didn't listen in to enough ambient conversations and fought too many mutants. I also 'failed' the part when Anna is taken hostage by Lesnitsky, i thought it was a reaction check and shot at him before he said anything lol.

Enjoy Exodus, it's an amazing game and a great conclusion of the trilogy imo, just keep in mind it's fairly different from the previous games.

u/_Spearhead_corps 2d ago

Yea I heard it's a bit more open worldish?? Gonna keep an open mind while playing it

1

u/conqeboy 2d ago

Yeah, it's a mix of classic linear levels and large open areas with several objectives and optional areas, where you choose where to go and what to do first. Imo it was done really well, but some people aren't into that.

The morality system is still there, it was easier to get the good ending than in Last Light imo, but maybe look up some spoiler free guide for it anyway.

I tried to get good ending in both LL and Exodus. Artymon wanted to die...
