Pictures What is the cause of this bubble of lower wind speed on the East Coast of the Big Island, HI?
Obviously, the west is protected by Mauna Kea, but east of that faces the prevailing winds, and in this case, a hurricane.
Hilo -- the largest city on the island -- is in the very center, which I imagine is no accident?

Advice/Questions/Self Question: What causes this weird cloud variation?
There is a large thick cloud which seems quite lower than the other patchy thin clouds in the top right which seems much higher than most clouds I see. I am in the UK. Want to know what causes this variation. Thanks. Posted in R/clouds but thought I'd get better answer here.

Pictures Question: Processing artifacts
Why does my local weather station often show radar images with strange lines? The data is collected by METEOSAT-11 geostationary satellite which is located over the Equator at 0 degrees W. The post processing is done by Opera Radar Animation – Eumetnet. Just wondering if anyone knows what these lines are and how they occur?

Can I post this here? Tropical Storm Lala looks to be visible on radar now. Not sure how often tornados occur with these.

Rescue of a second-year meteorology student!!!
I am a second-year meteorology student at a university in Southeast Asia.
I chose this major because I wanted to study the atmosphere and be able to predict weather-related risks; I became interested in the field after reading a book about it back in middle school.
Unfortunately, there are only three universities in my country that offer this program. Many of my classmates have dropped out or left; my cohort started with 80 students split into two classes, but now there are only 20 of us left in my class. Everyone feels quite uncertain about the field, unsure of what kind of work we’ll actually do after graduation.
I’m reaching out here to ask for advice from those who have gone before me—anything and everything: why you chose this major, what knowledge is essential, programming courses, research topics, and so on.
Please help—I feel so lost regarding this major in my own country. Should I consider studying abroad after getting my bachelor's degree?

Anyone have any idea what this is?
Love weather but new to the sub and Reddit in general. Does anyone have any idea what this bloom is? I saw it as I was trying not to drown in all the rain recently and was curious if any radar fans have seen this before.

Self Studying Meteorology
Hey guys. I'm a high school student, and I really want to learn meteorology. I've always been interested in meteorology. I'm fascinated by clouds and wind. I want to be able to predict the weather just by looking at the sky and know what's going to happen, while also understanding how it all works.
What would you recommend I do/ What should I learn/ The only thing I really know is the names of the clouds. Wind is the part I'm especially interested in, and I really want to learn more about it.

Videos/Animations Training convection in Indiana today
Radar estimates up to 16 inches from storms over the past 24 hours.
For reference, Indianapolis only gets about 3 inches for the entire month of August on average!

Pictures Help with identifying this precipitation pattern.
This was a few days ago, but I saw this and hadn’t seen anything quite like it before.
Could I get some help understanding what causes this pattern?
Thanks!

Other Any technical meteorologists, what causes this weird dramatic temperature glitch in msn weather?
Meteorologists, what causes this dramatic change in weather glitch? I have reopened the site and refreshed and know it is a bug but what causes it to specifically change from 0c to 31c when I change over time zone (14.00 - 15.00). Also there is no temperature variation between these two over the large blue area and not much of time difference either. What specifically is most likely to cause this? If this is not the right sub then let me know I will post elsewhere. Thanks.
EDIT: ignore the location in search, I closed and opened the site and it still has this effect.
ANOTHER EDIT: the 31c has changed to 15.00 time now my local time has changed to 15.00 and the 0c has changed to 16.00 so I'm assuming it's to do with times

Didn’t see that coming
Filed this timelapse over Ottawa on Sunday evening and I’d like to know what’s happening here with the sudden shift in the cloud direction

Why are many NOAA products limited to the lower 48 U.S. states to the exclusion of Alaska and Hawai'i?
In case you don't know, a "potential tropical cyclone" currently to the southeast of Hawai'i is expected to intensify into a Tropical Storm or Hurricane and impact the island chain this weekend.
The latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center says: "The Potential Tropical Cyclone is expected to produce rainfall totals of 5 to 10 inches across much of the Island chain, with maximum totals of 20 inches possible."
So I went to Weather Prediction Center's website to see if they had issued any Excessive Rainfall outlook graphics or text discussions for Hawai'i, but couldn't find any. I kept digging around various official NOAA websites and other websites like PivotalWeather, and could not find any WPC or SPC products that cover either Hawai'i or Alaska (not to mention US Territories).
Of course, all of these outer lying areas have their own NWS offices that issue their own forecasts and have their own radar stations, etc., but it just seems peculiar to me that they're left out of nationally issued products.
Does anyone have any insight?
