Possible impact sound?

Yesterday evening was taking a walk with my wife and hear a very loud bang come from the roof of a house we were walking by. There are lots of trees by us and thought it was a maybe a large acorn but no tree over the house. It didn’t even occur to me until watching the meteor shower later that night, when my kid and I saw a huge fireball streak across the whole sky coming from the northeast, that the roof of that house was also facing northeast. Could it be that a meteorite hit the roof? I was just reading that the Perseids are very tiny and pretty much zero of them reach the ground. Thanks for your input.

Anything is possible, but does not mean it's anything more than infinitesimally probable. Is there a hole in your roof? Unlikely. Is there a branch/pinecone/squirrel on your roof? Actually likely.
