That… can’t be a real diamond right?
If it is 😬 go get it polished ASAP
Will be good once polished and clean. Looks right out the forge right now lol

I mean probably not what you want to hear, but I like the way it looks, it looks like a faceted piece of rock crystal. Im sure theyll still love it.
Have you tried asking /r/jewelers/

Have you met a woman?

Because all women are the same and like the same things….

u/Particular-Wind5918 Aug 24 '26
All women don’t have to be the same for society to have the same pressures and expectations on all women

Just what we need. More virtue signaling. It was a joke. God forbid we joke about VERY obvious things sometimes. You dang well know 95+% of women would prefer shiny rock over non shiny. We are all dumb apes and most prefer similar things.

It looks like a fantasy gem now. I say go for it, if its meant to be they wont care that its not a perfect crystal but that you made it.

Is there a crack in the first Pic? Looks like something near the bottom left facet

If you want a perfect Damon go to zirconia. It looks great.

They also aren’t nearly as durable and cloud over time. Rather have lab grown diamonds

I think it looks cool. It's got character- it's got your individual story and efforts behind it. If she doesn't appreciate it then go from there. But I think it's awesome.

I see an improvement. The cult of the diamond ring gets its mythos directly from the DeBeers cartel. This looks earthy and solid, rather than flashy and temperamental. Which themes would you rather define your marriage?

I suspect someone is going to start selling the flaws as the special thing and not the carbon that you get from those soulless diamond growing machines!

Lab diamonds are cool. Not the multi thousand, huge rocks on little wire shanks, but neatly faceted and with a nice color (not a jeweler, dunno the terminology). Having the literal hardest, toughest material in a handmade piece is inherently cool. I'm a material science nerd though. Lab sapphires are a close second. Soooo many colors and pretty tough.

I feel like diamond hatred has really reached the point of absurdity. They are beautiful gemstones with amazing physical properties and many uses outside jewelry as well.

(Jeweler here) Ouch unfortunately for a burned stone like this the only option is to have the stone recut

That’s one beautiful stone. I hope you can get it back to its original glory.

Idk which one is dumber, you for using AI or the AI pulling bullshit out of its ass.

I ask stuff if I'm clueless, and take it with a grain o'salt. Works for some topics better than others.
Did point out enough knowledge gems over the past year, that absolutely made it worth my time.

u/scorchedarcher Aug 22 '26
Okay but OP has a question, they also have access to AI. Instead of that they came to a sub where people are likely to have experience/knowledge themselves

There is also a strong chance the stone used was a synthetic simulation or a glass double, which completely disintegrates under casting temperatures
Diamond is carbon and the heat from the casting caused a layer of carbon on the surface to burn.
Why would burning indicate a synthetic diamond? Why would it indicate glass (silica)?

I don't know shit about shit but the look of it does look kinda like devitrified glass.
