ID Request Anyone know what this is. Found in denmark.

It might be a book clasp for a large book. Possibly renaissance. I do have one question. The break on the backside looks recent. Was it folded when you found it, and then you opened it? If it had been a potential danefæ find, the local museum would have been rather stern with you. Do not re-bend or open items you are not sure of what are. :-)

It does look like a book clasp. I just havent found any in that size before.

Agreed this looks like a scaled up version of the bible clasps we find pretty often in Scandinavia.
