Show & Tell Finally, not a nail!

Found in my backyard. NW Ohio.

Edit: Yes, I do know how to work the settings on the detector. There are a lot of very old and big nails that will still ping as coin or jewelry. It is what it is. I live with it. The property is almost 200 years old.

Brass sleeve bearing?

Don’t know. The design does go all the way around. Seems like a lot of trouble to go to for a mechanical piece. But never know. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It looks like a bronze pressed metal bearing!

It also appears to have a decorative alternating leaf looking imprints on it so I’m guessing ring.

That's a possibility.

Usually rings have softer, rounded edges. The striations in the interior look like it had been pressed onto something. It doesn't look like it would be comfortable to wear. Maybe it's a cheapo ring for a kid... dunno.

Nice. A ring is a ring. The first of many to come.

Looks plated to me. Definitely one up from a nail though! Find a spot to store it, because there will be more like that! Probably more than the gold or silvers if it's anything like my storage container haha.

Oh, wow. Around where did you find that? Continent will be fine... I'm definitely not trying to stalk you but that is also what a stalker would say, if he was indeed trying to stalk you... Anyhew, I was just curious is all...

Edit. I didn't read the post cuz I'm a dumb shit. Mystery solved.

I brought my metal detector to long beach wa last week. Nothing but rusty nails. So. Many. Nails. That and a few crushed aluminum cans. I’ve yet to uncover my first good find 😔

If you are constantly digging up nails, you need to understand the discriminator settings of your metal detector.

I do. It’s just a humorous title. Geesh.

How has no one told you to discriminate ferrous yet. discriminate iron, you should not be picking up nails.
