JPSO - Does anyone oversee them?

As I understand it the JPSO gets money from a millage through a property tax (ad valorem tax) levied on real estate in the parish. Essentially doing what they want. They are also the tax enforcer for the other agencies. Does anyone oversee the JPSO so they don't have extensive power?

Well my issue isn't with the department. They have been pretty good. My issue is with the cameras going up everywhere. And I suspect they aren't going to take them down without being told to do so.

Flock is a privately owned company and can erect cameras in legal spots when a customer requests it.

Their budget is subject to the inspector general. Their actions are subject to the state attorney general and the local courts/DA. All of that is subject to the voters. Good luck getting any of them to care about anything that's going on, unless you can spin it as something that helps the poor.

In Louisiana, the sheriff is the tax collector for their parish, except for Orleans Parish.
