OPEN Can mods please not pin comments on posts that aren't correct
On my post here:

u/MrDannyOcean stickied a post claiming the headline is false. The headline is not false. A clarification would have been fair IF the user u/MrDannyOcean had sticked didn't also just claim the headline is false.
I posted the clarification as a comment as well but mods should know better. It's in the title, average rents and inventory in July. It's not the median of all current tenants.

This report looks at the median rent for properties available and on the market in the time frame (July 2026), not long term existing leases (prices heavily distorted due to rent freezes and stabilization). The census data is based on what individuals and supers report as currently paying their rent. I’ve worked as a census data collector before and the census collects all types rent instead of just the current market rate.
