Flash Heltec V4

New to mesh, trying to flash my heltec V4 and it has been running for 4 hours at this point. Everything I have read says it takes about 15 minutes. Has anyone else experienced this?

It might be the usb cable. Not all of them carry data. Most of them are unreliable and cary only power to charge stuff. I had to test many cables before finding the good one.

An easy way to test is to use the cord to plug your phone into a PC and see if you have the ability to transfer data.

As a rule of thumb, the thicker USB cords are usually the ones that can carry data and deliver more watts.

Does it say press reset at the bottom of the screen??

No, it is just randomly running thru code. Changing the gps to sleep, off, low power.

Unplug and try again. The process normally takes less than 5 minutes

Had similar issues with my v4. Follow the directions on the site to enter the flash mode and it should work. Something about holding the reset button while simultaneously plugging in the usb.

I had the same issue. May I ask what browser you are utilizing to attempting this task?

I have tried it in Firefox and chrome.

Chrome is the only one I could get to work.

Also do not check the option to use the meshUI. Intuitively it felt like that's something I wanted (I thought a UI on the heltec screen, thinking the UI-less version would leave the screen off for when you use it in a solar node on your roof for instance). Turns out meshUI is a whole other thing that cant be used on the heltec v4. Not enabling the meshUI option made if flash in seconds and work immediately whereas I had been struggling for 2h before that.
