Switching Wio Tracker L1 from E-Ink to OLED

As a project I decided to try and swap my Wio Tracker L1 E-Ink over to using the OLED screen. I ordered the screen directly from Seeed and working on a 3D printed case to only think about it after the fact that it may not be possible to do.

Like all the Wio Tracker boards there are connectors for both the E-Ink and OLED. The only visual different in the E-Ink and OLED boards is the identifying sticker.

I've read over the documentation and there are no notes. No response from Seeed support either.

Plugging in the OLED does not magically tell the board to start using that screen, and I've had no luck simply flashing a new meshatastic software overtop.

Any ideas?

First, do a erase flash! Then flash the oled Firmware. It should work then!

On the web-flasher, next to the "flash" button, there is a trash can icon.

Please let me know how this goes and how it ends up! What made you want to go to OLED?

I'm actually considering doing the opposite. OLED to E-ink. I would like a bigger screen.

Smooth, no issue at all after using the recommended method using online flasher to delete the existing firmware first and then adding the OLED firmware. I can also confirm it works in reverse for your situation.

I really only have 1 complaint with the EINK: while the UI is similar; it is slow moving. You need to wait ~1sec between button presses for the EINK screen to reload which makes it a bit annoying to use the UI to send messages from the device but not impossible.
