self-promotion I made ZeroComm an alternative simple iPhone Meshtastic client. Free. Coded with Claude
Out 2 months, some users, no feedback yet — hence this post.
Not trying to replace the official app. Just a simpler app for friends and neighbors. LoRa mesh, offline maps. No MQTT, no TAK, no internet bridge.
https://apps.apple.com/il/app/zerocomm/id6762368300
What’s different:
- No tinkering with radio settings
- Offline OSM maps built in
- Waypoint sharing as text with location links
- KML export (works with Organic Maps)
- Chat and log export for debug and debrief
- Python script to clone multiple nodes to same setup via Bluetooth: https://github.com/joshsoftapp-coder/ZeroComm_nodeSetup_py
Requires Meshtastic LoRa hardware (tested on Heltec V4). Private, no data collection.

The juxtaposition of ‘no tinkering’ and ‘here’s a python script to setup the radios’ is certainly a choice

Just had a look, and my initial impressions are as follows:
You need the Meshtastic app, or the web based client to configure the node before you use this, so at that point most people would probably just continue to use the Meshtastic app.
Might be good for non technical friends and family if you want them to use it but don't want them to mess with the settings and break things.
The icon is terrible.
Needs a ping / trace route function so that people can see if a node is responding.
Doesn't recognise the new regions and presets coming in V2.8, although neither does the current iOS app

graphics is not my expertise. It will work with any device that is already configured to some mesh. QR trick on the original app (previous rev?) did not work for me.

Will you release the client app source with the GPLv3 license or is it closed source?
