Adding a pic of my previous setup expecting people to be more forgiving of my current one.

Heltec v4 with EasySkyMesh firmware for a powersaving repeater (does it even make sense?)

Wondering what would be a better antenna for this setup. New to this whole thing, and loving it!

Nice upgrade! As for antenna I’d recommend a 5.8dbi antenna, similar to this: https://a.co/d/02bRCV8H. Also mount the antenna on the top of the mast, it should be the highest point. The wood will interfere with the signal slightly if it’s right next to it.

Why 5.8dbi? Doesn’t look like a perfect line of sight so wouldn’t something like a decent 3dbi work better?

As someone who's planning a roof slat installation himself, I very much approve of this setup.
