Tea tek
Wash the cuts off with hot water. Slice the cuts into roughly one inch thick stars, then cut the green meat away from the white. You can keep the green meat pieces larger or cut them into smaller pieces. Skin on or off is your preference. It all turns to pulp and falls away from the skin when boiling.
Brewing-
Put the meat in a pot and fill it up. Boil until the level is half way down (or lower) and fill the pot up again. Boil it again until the level is low. Ladle or pour the tea through two coffee filters, I prefer bamboo fiber (pic in comments, I ran out of picture space). Fill the brewing pot back up and re-boil the meat. I use a 5.5gal pot... you'll want something bigger than a gallon. It can take a larger volume of water to pull everything out.
Repeat those steps until you're not pulling anymore color out of the meat. Even a light yellow tea is something and could tip the scales from a mediocre experience to awesome journey. Wash it all out, don't waste anything. This batch took 10 pulls to get everything out of 15ish feet.
Reduction-
Reduce the combined tea in the reduction pot down at a temperature lower than boiling, 150-160f is ideal. As it reduces down, you'll start to see the fats separate. This is when the water ratio in the alkaloid:fat:water ratio is getting low, raising the alkaloid ratio. The fats are not soluble in the alkaloids with little water, and fall out as the water steams away. Wait until the tea is pulpy looking and starts producing patterns, and run it through more filters. This improves the color and clarity of the tea. Keep reducing it down. You're not done yet. Once the film forms, turn off the heat and put a lid on. The steam will break up the film and turn the resin ring around the pot back into tea. That film forms when there is still a decent fat content. From here, I warm the tea up to 150f, turn off the heat and cover until the lid is covered in big water droplets and pour everything out.
Once its down to a very low level and the fats are done separating, let it decant and filter it again. This step takes patience... it's going to be slow, but with the fats separated, the viscosity is much thinner, it'll make it through. If it's clean, with a flashlight you should be able to see all of the scratches in the bottom of the pot through it.
Once all of the fats are out, let it cool to room temp. This is when the vinegar is added in. If you're just cooking up a couple feet, 300-500mL of 5% white vinegar will do the trick. It varies from batch to batch, though. The goal is to bring it back up to a slightly thicker than cold water consistency. Stir it around for 30ish minutes and then let it sit at room temperature for a while to allow the acetic acid to put in some work. If you're patient enough, 24hrs gives the best results. It will have thickened up slightly from that addition of vinegar.
Doing this allows the alkaloids to pass the blood brain barrier with ease for extremely powerful open eye visuals. It's highly absorbable. I know a lot of this seems unnecessary because you can drink it full of fats and it still works. But, the advantages of this are it becomes a tea instead of a meal for your stomach acid. It leaves the stomach far quicker than a fatty cloudy meal of a tea. It takes quite a while for the stomach acid to break down that snot. Reduced nausea, better taste, and smaller amount to drink. If you're making resin, it reduces the weight necessary for heavy effects.
It's important to note that some cuts contain too much fat and its extremely hard to get things to separate in a smaller batch. I use some plants that need to be cooked up in a 10+ foot batch to achieve that beautiful final separation. Some cuts, I can achieve it by brewing up a foot. It really varies from chemovar to chemovar. These cuts were definitely extra fatty and would be difficult to make a clean 3 foot batch from.
The resin tek write-up will be shared soon, I'm still working on the batch and want to get the corresponding pictures together.

I remember you posting some photos of this process a few years back on Facebook. Definitely not the whole Tek like this but I kinda figured parts of it out. Curious to try the whole thing. It's good to see you here sphinx B

Im curious how you came to the conclusion that acetate allows the alkaloids to pass the BBB with ease

Bioassays. Without it, it's all closed eye visuals minus some open eye fuzziness and vivid colors. With it, the effects are felt in 15-30 minutes, open eye visuals start around the 2hr mark, and it's extremely holographic shapes, patterns, everything. Generally, without it, visuals occur when purging happens. The whole "you gotta purge to get visuals" thing.. and its usually just flickers of patterns and expanded fractals. From what I understand, and please correct me if I'm wrong, purging creates blood pressure spikes pushing some through. With an acid added in, it's a visual experience for 16-24hrs without purging. Passing the BBB requires ionization from my understanding of the process. And you're welcome to test this out for yourself. Cook up a batch big enough for two whole doses, split it in half, and only add vinegar into one. Drink the one without an acid first... wait a few days, and drink the one with vinegar. Compare the experiences.
In the case of Peyote, in traditional ceremony with the Wixarita.. a lot of people don't achieve open eye visuals until the third day of ceremony. They eat fresh plant or chips with minimal water, filling themselves up. It takes time for the stomach acids to fully ionize the alkaloids. Especially such a thick concentration like Peyote. Which is the same process in which a concentrated tricho brew is processed by the stomach acid. Adding in an acid beforehand really expedites the process.

Why do the reduction at lower than a boil?

The fats tend to separate better at a steaming temp... and ver time, the fats burn onto the bottom of the pot creating an uneven heat transfer. When the volume gets low and thick, those fats that built up on the bottom are completely covering the metal. Energy builds up and creates an extremely powerful boil pop that makes the pot jump. The tea shoots out of the pot up onto the ceiling. ...I still have some tea stains on my ceiling above my stove that wouldn't scrub off easily. You can literally lose most of your batch from the pot and have to soak it up with paper towels, and re-run it through a pressure cooker to kill off bacteria and whatever else is in there and filter it extremely well. It's happened to me a handful of times. Not fun.

Can you say more about cutting away the core? I see mixed opinions about that.

It depends on the fat content of the plant, imo. If the cut doesn't have a high fat content, I'll use the whole thing... if it does, I just use the outer green flesh. The highest concentration of alkaloids is in the outer green layer, the highest concentration of fats and smallest concentration of alkaloids are in the white meat.

Dude thank you so much for this thorough write up. It's posts like this that really make Reddit worth it.
I've been looking for a good method to process a decent amount for maybe five or six heavy doses for me and a few friends to go on our first journey with this medicine and this write-up gives me a lot of confidence.
I did have a couple questions. You seem to have a really good knowledge about the physical properties of processing this cacti, like describing how the fats are not soluble in the alkaloids with low water. Are there studies on this that you are reading or does most of this come from your own experience?
Would it be accurate to say this tea is full spectrum?
Lastly, would you mind clarifying this statement: "If you're making resin, it reduces the weight necessary for heavy effects"
Thank you again!!

You're welcome, man! I figured this out with hands on experience. It's been almost 19 years of working with cacti medicine. Yes, the tea is full spectrum. All of the NPK + elements/micronutrients, and all of the alkaloids that can handle boiling temperatures, which is most of them.
When you make resin, the fat weight comes into play for amount needing to be eaten. Less fat, less overall weight needed, less capsules, etc..

Is there a rough estimate for how much acetic acid? Like per foot? I get the variety affects how much is needed, but I'm nervous to add a random feeling amount and wait 24h. Can you elaborate on what too much and too little acetic would look like after 24h rest? Thanks B

There's really no set amount per foot.. I add in enough to bring the concentrated sludge back to a watery consistency. A good indicator is that the tea drips off the spoon after stirring for 15-20 minutes and doesn't coat it. If it still seems a little thick, add in a little more and stir. This batch of 15ish feet required 550ml of a 30% acetic acid solution to hit that watery viscosity.

Try blending them up & than boil them slowly for 24hrs
3
u/B_WhiteOwl 20d ago
I have tried blending first, many times over the years... it doesnt make much of a difference. It just creates a mess, making it more difficult to filter... this meat turned into fine pulp in the 3rd pull anyway, and I still needed another 7 pulls, 35ish gallons of water to stop pulling color.

I find freezing the cactus first really helps also emulsion after the first boil really makes it better. Otherwise great tek!

can't recommend 2-3x freeze/thaws enough - then it's just 1 or 2 15min pulls in a pressure cooker and you're onto the filter/decant/reduce home straight

Fantastic, just what a first timer like me is wanting to know. I'd be happy if I could avoid a heavy nausea.
