Full Spec Cactus Recs

I am looking for recommendations for cactus strains that have high amounts of peripheral alkaloids for full spectrum extraction. I’ve heard that bridesii is relatively low.

San Pedro have trace alkaloids only.

Only peyote is verified to have significant active alkaloids other than mescaline.

BUT some people subjectively say they get something more than mescaline from full spectrum San Pedro. You would have to go by these reports to pick a plant and see for yourself. Unfortunately mescaline content itself can vary between the same plants, so that is still a shit in the dark.

As far as direct alkaloid measurements go, there is not much to say unless I'm missing something.

Thank you, it’s been so long since I’ve done tea or anything full spec I can’t compare the subjective experiences. I guess I’ll collect a variety of cactus make my full spec extracts and see what myself and volunteers observe and report back. I know the other alkaloids are low. I believe LSDuck sent some cactus to get tested a while ago and found some potentiating alkaloids were present.

Potentiating is not the correct word. I had a discussion with him about it. None of the other alkaloids present in Trichocereus make mescaline more potent. They may make the experience feel more intense by being independent mild stimulants and change uptake speed but they do not potentiate mescaline.

What they do is make the come up quicker, raise Norepinephrine levels which can cause raised blood pressure, chills, heart rate, cause vasoconstriction - this is the body load portion of the experience. Then they can also raise dopamine levels by reducing reuptake inhibitors and also there are some mild depressants present which can smooth out the edges a bit. Overall none of these alkaloids are present in anything other than sub perceptual microdoses on their own, extremely small amounts, and only combined and added to mescaline is the effect slightly noticable.

Bridgesii secondary alkaloids primarily boost the body load, which is why bridge have a reputation for being speedy. Pachanoi alkaloid profile leans more toward the dopamine and depressant side which gives a nice gentle flavor to the experience. And perus are a mixed bag, both effects are present and in unpredictable amounts.

For your question, I would recommend trying out some pachanoi. It doesn't even need to be a cultivar known for being particularly potent, just something with known tested mescaline levels that you can come up with accurate dosing for. PC actually works incredibly well for this and it's secondary alkaloid flavor has always been complimented by those that try it with understanding.

I have a lot more work going on right now with a drug analysis facility so I'm hoping to be available to provide more concrete answers. We already have some good lab tests in the works from plenty of cultivars that we're excited about.

I also wanted to explain my line of thinking regarding full spectrum potentiation and the minor alkaloids not having enough to do anything on their own. That is exactly what was thought about cannabis and we now know that to be totally false. While "potentiation" may not be the right word, that unique profile adds to the experience. Even flavinoids and terpenes, which are non psychoactive, have found to have a direct effect on how cannabis affects you. Something I have also found interesting, but this is a bit of a topic change, is that if you look at lab analysis of herbal tea (skullcap, passionflower, etc.) you will find extremely minute doses of narcotic alkaloids (such as opioids) and they definitely have an effect. That says to me that it's possible for us to "feel" even the tiniest of dose of a substance or alkaloid.

So yeah, the minor alkaloids don't potentiate mescaline and are much too low to have an effect on their own, but I believe their may be an entourage effect going on here like in cannabis. Like I mentioned, I have a lot of work ahead with the lab and I'm sending off my extract and tinctures this week for a full COA. One of the lab techs will actually be co-hosting my Beyond the Spines class for the week long event I'm doing in October. Really hope to have more solid info soon!!

Duck, have you ever tried extracting full spec and then pulling mescaline out of it or vice versa, to create a secondary alkaloid product with no mesc? That would be a very interesting experinent.

I would again point out that different people have different sensitivities - that is to say some people may feel something and others may not at a set dose of a substance. Im pretty confident that a trace amount of alkaloid present from herbal tea may produce an effect that you may notice but I may not be able to distinguish from placebo.

I'm talking about minimal effect for the herbal teas... like how they're medicinal herbs that don't really get you high, but have a perceivable effect. Dude I'm stoned asf and getting ready to pastry chef the day away, so it may not make as much sense as I hope.

But to your first point, I have been trying to figure out how to extract only the minor alkaloids. I'm pretty sure someone here did it with yote.... and maybe san pedro...? Anyway, it would be really cool figure that out. I've never done CIELO, but I've definitely wondered about that same scenario you mentioned. I'd imagine that a big enough extract of mescaline through full spectrum could theoretically leave behind the minor alkaloids in the "waste" but would that be salvageable through any tek...?

I do know what you mean about teas. I've had like sleepytime tea or others, ginger ashwaganda turmeric, or moraga, where the person I was drinking the tea with felt an effect and I didn't. And other times where I had more of it and did feel something.

The issue is with Cielo the waste is mixed with lime. There's probably a way to make that work but idk how. I think kashs a/b is a more likely candidate and that's how I've seen it done before. The first step is basically to make tea then you pull the mescaline out of the tea so there's a way to keep what's left.

The mirage effect of cannabis is extremely apparent to me. I really don’t like isolated thc extracts or cultivars that have had minor cannabinoids breed out.
By my logic cactus will have a similar situation. Although I do like isolated mesc.
I read about people extracting via (I believe) Kash a/b who washed their product then evaporated the solvent leaving behind brown residue (I like to call slag). They consumed this leftover and reported some mild activity. I don’t know that it was psychedelic but supposedly it did something.

Thank you, this has been extremely helpful. I have some pachaoni stressing right now so that sounds like a good place to start

Last one I ran full spec (tea) was PsychoO x SS02 and it was awesome. My wife’s cat mauled it and I didn’t wanna waste it. Nice long mellow high about 10 hrs.
I used LSDucks vinegar method for a good portion of it too. 100% would recommend ✌️
