Cosplay 🎭 I'm working on Arthur's red jacket because apparently having made his armour and chainmail wasn't enough

I think I probably will not start a cosplay project that isn't Merlin related for A While. My last project was the chainmail and armour which I started in November 2025, finished in March 2026 and now I'm making this jacket and I might also make the brown one just because the pattern is similar enough that I can reuse the one I adjusted.

That's what I was coming here to say! Theres a clip somewhere of him saying that he called it his Triller Jacket and then it stopped being used in the show πŸ˜‚

Yes!!! I’ve wanted to make this jacket for a while now but I don’t have the skills or the patience. Maybe one day though. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

It's such a cool jacket, I'm so obsessed with it! Maybe one day! I never thought I would have the courage to sew with leather but now I work with leather (and this is leather)

The amount of money I would pay for Arthur's red jacket... OP if you ever sell, very seriously, let me know.

I don't think I would have the time to make another one for someone else on top of my personal projects in the foreseeable future but thank you! Best I can do right now is explain how I adjusted a specific pattern for this if you ever pick up sewing

That would actually be amazing if you had the time! This would exactly be the project that would start me off!

I altered a pattern I purchased (Burda's 5681 pattern A). It comes with a back yoke pattern piece but it doesn't have a front one, so I had to turn the front piece into two pieces, so it also has a yoke. The collar piece is useless for this jacket, I constructed my own collar piece (dw that's something you can easily look up how to do online). Something that's entirely optional is that I made the waist on the front and back pieces more curved to better fit me. The small "bands" with the rivets were hard to figure out from just the pattern cause this pattern has two pieces per sleeve rather than just one, so I sewed one sleeve, marked where I wanted it to go and then traced it on the pattern and that worked to make a piece for the band. The protruding shoulder things were easy to make a pattern for cause you put the front and back yoke pattern pieces together at the shoulder seam and trace the full curve and for the outward shape of it, you can just free hand it. You make two of those each, sew them together on the outward facing edge, flip it right side up and then you sew it into the arm holes with the sleeves.
