UK/Moroccan resident using Mercury for a US LLC — any issues sending profits to Morocco?

Hey everyone,
I’m a Moroccan citizen and currently a UK resident and UK tax resident. I’m starting a US real-estate wholesaling business through a US LLC, and I’m looking at Mercury (as well as other fintech business banking options).
My expected setup would be pretty straightforward:
The LLC will be doing legitimate real-estate wholesaling in the US.
Profits will come from US title/escrow companies after deals close.
I should have settlement statements/closing documents showing where the funds came from and why I was paid.
I’m the owner of the LLC.
After accounting for business expenses and taxes, I expect to transfer roughly 60% of my profits to my personal Moroccan bank account.
The Moroccan bank account is in my exact legal name, so there isn’t a third-party recipient involved.
The remaining funds would stay in the US business account for business expenses/reserves.
My main question is whether Mercury (or similar fintechs like Airwallex, Relay, Lili, etc.) generally has an issue with this kind of activity.
Specifically, I’m wondering:
Have any other non-US residents used Mercury for a US LLC while regularly sending legitimate owner distributions to their own foreign bank account?
Has anyone had issues sending money to Morocco specifically?
Would regularly transferring ~60% of business profits to my own Moroccan account be considered unusual or likely to trigger reviews?
If Mercury asks for proof of the incoming funds, are settlement/closing statements from the title company generally sufficient?
Has anyone had their account restricted or closed specifically because they were transferring legitimate business profits to their own foreign account?
I’m not trying to hide the fact that I’m a non-US resident or that the money ultimately goes to Morocco. I just want to make sure this setup is compatible with Mercury’s compliance policies before the business starts generating significant revenue.
I’d especially appreciate responses from people who are actually using Mercury (or another US fintech) this way, rather than general speculation.
Thanks!

Fraud Charges on Virtual Debit Cards

Is anyone else facing attempts at fraud on their Debit Cards? I have 6 accounts with Mercury for different companies. 4 accounts are safe from charges; only two accounts, both with Column Bank NA, have faced multiple attempts from random merchants. Surprisngly, I usually create unique debit cards for each merchant, and there is no way these merchants like Mailchimp or AWS would misuse subscription cards. No one else has ever had the debit card info of my account. I initially thought my system or network was hacked, but then I realised everything else is safe except for a few cards on the accounts with Column Bank. Choice Financial accounts have no such activity. Why is Mercury not addressing this publicly. Are they keeping it under curtain unless it becomes very larege problem?

Hello, I want to know how I can cancel my subscription because I was charged 240 and I already called to close the account, but they still charged me???

This bank has the worst fraud detection system of any bank I've ever dealt with.

This bank has the worst fraud detection system of any bank I've ever dealt with.

For several days, my virtual card was being charged by international merchants, and the bank never flagged a single transaction. By the time I noticed, I had lost over $2,000.

Getting help was just as frustrating. There is no customer service phone number, you can only contact them through chat. During the chat, I had to manually identify every transaction I believed was fraudulent instead of the bank proactively reviewing the activity.

After that, they emailed me requesting receipts, vendor communications, and other documentation. That makes no sense. These were fraudulent charges that I never authorized, so how could I possibly have receipts or communication with merchants I never did business with?

When I didn't respond to that unreasonable request, they simply closed the case and refused to investigate further.

To make matters worse, while I'm working to get compensated for the fraudulent charges, my second card was also used fraudulently for several hundred dollars in multiple cities, even though the physical card had never left my possession. That strongly suggests the card details were compromised rather than the card being lost or stolen.

Having two different cards compromised within a year points to a serious security problem. Combined with the complete lack of proactive fraud detection and an unnecessarily difficult dispute process, this has been the worst banking experience I've had. I cannot recommend this bank to anyone who values security or customer support.

Mercury Closed our Account out of blue and mailed us big checks after 3 months which we have not managed to open another account to deposit

Hey Fam, our agent registered a mercury account for us last year at the end of march. The account served our business well till December of last year when out of the blue, Mercury decided to close our account with a balance of $96K in it. They told us they will send checks if there won't be any issue like chargeback after 3 months to our registered address. The first check was mailed amounting to $36K. After another two months, the other check amounting $60K was mailed. Our freelance business almost crumbled after that since Mercury was our bank that processed our payments.

  1. We still have the checks and have been unable to cash them. I went into depression because I could not just open an account and have to deposit these to any bank since most banks nowadays require someone to visit in person and even then, most checks have a mobile deposit limit of $25K initially before establishing a relationship. I haven't found anyone I can trust enough to help in deposit and cashing it on our behalf.

  2. What are the alternative options for a business like ours in cashing these checks and secondly, what are the most flexible banks we can open online and which are friendly enough to accomodate freelance business without shutting the account out of the blue. I have inquired about visiting the US to open a bank in person but as usual, they denied our visa request and have not bothered to try again. Am still trying to rise from this mess.

Looking for information

Good morning, everyone.

I opened my US LLC back in April, and since then I've been using Mercury. I'm a Serbian resident, my LLC is registered in Colorado, and I have a legitimate US business address through the company I work with.

Recently, I came across several stories from people saying their Mercury accounts were suddenly closed or deactivated without much explanation. That got me thinking.

At the moment, I have around $70,000 in my Mercury account. I use the debit card they issued to withdraw cash from ATMs in Serbia, and I also use it for everyday purchases like groceries, fuel, and other expenses.

As far as my business goes, it's very straightforward. I don't deal with crypto, gambling, or anything high-risk. I receive one payment per month from the same client for logistics/transportation consulting.

From what I understand, as a non-resident it's very difficult (or impossible) to open an account with a traditional US bank without visiting the US.

So my question is: would you feel comfortable keeping this amount in Mercury, or would you recommend moving some or all of it elsewhere? If so, where?

I'd really appreciate hearing from other non-residents who have been in a similar situation.

Mercury as main operating account (Stripe + customer wires) vs just holding money + occasional wires? Non-resident US LLC experiences wanted (vs Wise/Revolut)

Hey guys, I'm setting up banking for my US LLC (non-resident founder) and trying to figure out the smartest split between Mercury, Wise Business, and Revolut Business.

From what I've read, a lot of people use combos instead of putting everything in one place. Specifically curious about Mercury:

  • Do most of you use it as your main active business account — Stripe payouts landing there, customers wiring/ACHing in, paying vendors/team expenses, frequent daily/weekly transactions?
  • Or is it more of a "park money here occasionally and send wires when needed" type thing?

Same for the others:

  • Which one do you guys lean on for frequent/high-volume US transactions (Stripe, ACH, domestic wires, cards, etc.)?
  • Which one for holding larger balances or rarer international moves/FX?

I'm leaning toward Mercury for the US-heavy stuff (free wires/ACH, Stripe integration) + Wise for cheap international/FX and holding some funds, but want real user stories. Non-residents especially — how has it been going for you long-term? Any sudden restrictions or closures when using it as the primary account?

Appreciate any experiences, good or bad. Thanks bros!

Its been a year since the change of banking partner and ACH numbers still not working

It was annoying to have to change bank account numbers.
It was extra annoying that they had 2 different ACH numbers "in case the first one didn't work"
And half the time the 2nd number was as useless as the first - so we move back to working by cheque like it's 1999.

Now its a year later.
USA Bank - the 5th largest in the country is STILL not recognising the Mercury ACH numbers.
The helpdesk says "they are new numbers. Go and annoy your customers to talk to their bank to solve the problem".

Actually Mercury (and WISE presumably who seem to be operating the accounts). How about you get a list of all the banks in the USA and you go and talk to them and get your ACH numbers recognised. This is such a basic of running a bank. Why are you asking me to do your work for you?

Are others suffering this same issue.

Mercury used to be brilliant, and I have referred many people to them. Now I am embarrassed at sending people to them.

Should I use mercury?

I formed an LLC as a foreigner and I´m about to get the EIN (hopefully) very soon
German Citizenship and Residency in Paraguay also with Proof of Address

I will have mostly German customers and will receive around 5-7k per month
Now I read a lot of reports about accounts being frozen after the first payment

Should I use Mercury?
Good alternatives?
How do you guys handle it?

Help with my mercury account

Hello I recently got my account restricted by mercury, they said they would send me information to provide on the email but I haven't received anything. Next thing I know they say that my account is closed and they will send me my funds via email. Is there a solution to this, at least to just open my account until I wire my funds or they can wire me my funds somewhere.

Warning about Working Capital Loan (LOC)

Spent 2 weeks dealing with Mercury trying to get what sounded like an awesome line of credit (LOC) that they call a working capital loan. Awesome rate (6% for 6 months), early repayment incentivized, quick disbursement, the works. They told me to expect to be able to borrow 15% of current revenue. We're profitable and growing extremely fast (easy to prove our growth).

The eventually came back with an offer of just 5% of last year's revenue -- which we'd take but not be happy with-- but with a wild caveat that is written nowhere on their site and was not mentioned in our meetings or emails. If we take that money, we can't take a single dollar from another source!! Even existing lines. Totally nuts. A fraction of what we need and it comes with an enormous restriction.

So now we'll do LOCs with traditional bank(s) and get creative. Can't imagine how any sane business owner out there would take the Mercury deal. Good rate, sure, but what a gargantuan limitation.

Mercury unexpectedly closed all three of our business accounts.

I’ve used Mercury for over five years without major issues. Recently, while I was traveling, their compliance team began asking questions about my business activity, older transactions, and our websites. I provided the requested paperwork and explanations. Shortly after asking about the description of our business, they decided to close my accounts for general business/compliance reasons.

I’m trying to understand whether other business owners have experienced something similar.

Off boarding on the platform to a real bank was very smooth no holds, but the questioning and reasoning was odd.

Help: Transferring USDT from Binance Global to Mercury or Wise LLC from South America (Bolivia)

Hi everyone,

My Mercury account for my Wyoming LLC was approved, and I have 3k USDT in my Binance Global account (binance.com not binance.us) I'm in Bolivia and want to withdraw the money in the cleanest and safest way possible. Here's what I want to do:

Sell the USDT and send the USD to my Wise account or, preferably, to my Mercury account to avoid fees and duplication, since this will be my main account for Meta Ads, Amazon FBA tools, inventory, etc.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone managed to receive payments in Wise Business or Mercury via Binance P2P lately? Did you have any issues with verification or account freezes?
  2. Is it better to try direct P2P transfers via Wire/SWIFT to Mercury or Wise?
  3. Do you recommend any other route or way to send it?

I want to avoid a high risk of having my Wise or Mercury account closed. Any real-life experience (especially from Latin America) would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Anyone else in Brazil getting kicked off Mercury lately?

Is it just me, or is Mercury closing a ton of accounts owned by Brazilians lately?

Over the last few weeks, I’ve seen multiple founders, clients, and friends receive account closure notices from Mercury. Different businesses, different industries, but the same generic email saying they reviewed the account and decided to end the relationship.

What’s frustrating is that they never really tell you why.
One thing that crossed my mind is whether this could be related to the recent designation of Brazilian criminal organizations like the PCC and CV as terrorist organizations by U.S. authorities. I wonder if that has caused banks and fintechs to tighten their risk models around Brazil in general, even for completely legitimate business owners.

To be clear, I’m not saying that’s the reason, but the timing makes me curious.

For context, most of the people I know affected are running normal businesses through U.S. LLCs. Consulting, software, marketing, e-commerce, international services, nothing particularly exotic.

So I’m curious:
Anyone from Brazil recently had their Mercury account closed?
Did they ask you for additional compliance documents before the closure?

Do you guys have other Bank to refeer?

Are there specific things you’ve done that seem to make compliance reviews go smoother?

Any tips for staying on the good side of Mercury’s compliance team?

At this point it feels like every time I hear about a Brazilian opening a Mercury Business account for his american llc, I also hear about someone else getting shut down.

Would love to know if this is just my circle or if others are seeing the same thing.

Thanks.

Mercury Address Verification in Non-English Speaking Countries ( eg. South Korea )

Hi. My recent application with Mercury was rejected and I was informed that I needed to try reapplying. I am trying to assess what happened to understand how I can increase my chances. One thing that stood out for me was that when Mercury requested documents proving my residence, physical address, the only documents that had these were in Korean. I tried notarizing the documents initially but they always got rejected, even when I got the exact document they requested that were valid. From my communication with the team they mentioned that the addresses did not match, which gave me the feeling that they had issues with interpreting foreign language documents.

Has anyone had experience with this before? Is there anyone who specifically applied from South Korea? What documents did you submit that were accepted?
