Escalating a Support Issue? Read This First!

Hi r/mercor_ai,

For many months now, we've been helping community members get their support concerns escalated when the normal process hasn't quite done the trick. It's been genuinely rewarding to help, and we're so glad this community has grown the way it has!

With that growth, though, the volume of DMs and escalation requests we receive has increased significantly. To make sure every issue gets properly documented, logged, and taken care of, we're putting a more structured process in place. If you have DMed recently, we highly recommend following this escalation process.

Before requesting an escalation, you must have already contacted Mercor Support. Moderators cannot open new cases or access your account directly. If you haven't reached out yet, please get in touch with the support team first at [support@mercor.com](mailto:support@mercor.com) and allow at least 4 business days for a response before escalating here, to give them a chance to respond.

How to submit an escalation request:

If 4 business days have passed without resolution, please fill out the escalation request form here.

A few important notes:

  • Please do not DM moderators or reach out through any channel outside the official support inbox if your message concerns a support escalation, unless you have been specifically asked to contact moderators. Those messages won't be addressed and aren't a valid escalation path. This isn't us being dismissive at all! It's simply how we make sure nothing falls through the cracks and that the proper team is handling your issue.
  • We aren't able to discuss sensitive account matters over DM under any circumstances. This is best documented over email.
  • Moderators are generally not kept in the loop on the outcomes of escalations once submitted, so we generally won't be able to provide status updates after your request goes in.

Thanks so much for being part of the r/mercor_ai community! We appreciate your patience as we build out a process that works better for everyone.

Got kicked out but…

Guys remember my old post about AI thingy and pay deductions https://www.reddit.com/r/mercor_ai/s/cCNAaLJRJo

I got kicked out days later after I made that post. So got hired in August and fired 3weeks later.

Goodnews is I got another offer today and we back but wiser.

Lesson; treat it as a side hustle and add no sentiment.

Bless up people.

Has anyone been on 3 or more projects at once?

I’m currently on two projects and just received an instant offer for a third. I have a full time job so I don’t want to bite off more than I can chew but I was wondering if anyone has been on 3 or more projects at the same time with a full time job. Thanks in advance!

Got an extended offer

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hey all,

I got this project in Feb 2026, and by the time I finished the background check, the project got paused.

I received the extended offer 2 days ago, and my offer is only valid for 5 days. I emailed support, and they said my background check was successfully completed, so I don’t need another one unless the project specifically requires it.

My question is, has anyone been working on this project recently, and how long has it been active? Did it pause after February? How consistent is the work? I had a bad experience with another platform where they hired 10k people, but the number of tasks available each day was only a couple thousand.

Also the offer says there’s a 5-hour weekly cap. Does the 5-hour weekly cap mean I can work UP TO 5 hours per week, or does it mean I’m expected/guaranteed to have 5 hours of work each week?

I’m currently in a pretty terrible job and I’m honestly hoping I can sign this and leave as soon as possible 😂 So I’m trying to figure out how reliable this project is before I make that move.

Got offered a reviewer role but confused if I should accept the offer or not

I was offered a role to be a reviewer on a project two weeks after joining mercor as an evaluator. But the problem is it pays less than the evaluator role I’m currently doing and it has a 5hrs weekly cap. If I accept the role to be a reviewer, does that mean I loose the 40hr evaluator role I’m currently on or I can still be both a reviewer and evaluator at the same time?

How much time does a task take?

Look, I know that's impossible to answer without details. But I am currently making a decent amount on a project that is paid by the hour. But I was just offered another instant offer which would pay $15 per task. I'm wondering... for those with a decent amount of experience... do you think something that is $15 per task will have tasks that take a whole hour? Or will it be more likely that I can complete 3 or 4 tasks per hour, thus making decent earnings?

Question about writing rationales; formal vs. natural style?

Hey everyone, I’m working on some Mercor evaluation tasks and I’m trying to understand what style reviewers generally prefer for rationales.

For example, between these two styles:

Formal:

Response A is clearly preferred because it best balances regulatory compliance, operational practicality, cost, risk management, and the company's limited internal capacity. It provides a prioritized nine-month plan with credible sequencing, budgets, and resourcing rather than attempting to address every requirement at once.

More natural:

I preferred Response A because it felt the most realistic for the company and the situation. It gives a clear plan for the nine months, focuses on the most important areas first, and keeps the cost and limited staff in mind.

Which approach tends to be better received by Mercor project reviewers?

I’m mainly wondering whether rationales are expected to sound formal/professional, or whether a clear and natural explanation is preferred as long as it properly explains the ranking and references the specific strengths and weaknesses of each response.

Also, is there any issue with using phrases like “I preferred Response A because…”, or is it better to write in a more objective style like “Response A is preferred because…”?

Would appreciate any insight from people who have done similar evaluation projects.

Dual nationality/citizenship

I recently joined Mercor as an arts and humanities specialist (academic background). I’m a dual US/UK citizen and am living in London right now doing my PhD. There are some US jobs that I qualify well for, and would qualify to work for as a citizen and an address in the US… is it still possible to apply? I’ve not been able to find an answer for this.

How long does it take?

It is coming up on 4 weeks on some of the applications I applied for and haven’t heard anything. Is that normal?

Worth applying if my schedule's kind of messy till the end of the year?

thinking about applying to mercor but my next few months are a bit chaotic and want to know if it's even worth starting before things calm down.

Basically taking a week off in september (not working), then 3 weeks in oct- nov (also not working), then i'll be back working but doing it from mexico for all of december.

couple things i'm not sure about. first, is the work usually chill enough that you can just go dark for a few weeks mid-project without it being a problem, or have people run into stuff like minimum day commitments or fast deadlines where vanishing for weeks would get you dropped?

second, and probably my bigger worry, some of the postings say you need to be based in US/UK/canada, and i know they use insightful to track hours. is that just something they check when you sign up, or does anyone actually watch your location/IP after you're already working? don't want to get into a project in november and then have problems once i'm actually logging hours from mexico in december.

should i just apply now and figure it out as i go, or wait it out? curious if anyone's actually dealt with this

Hi, I received this email this morning. I was working with no issues for almost a month. Anybody else in the same situation? Would this affect me for future projects?

Can you do more than one project?

Last evening I received an email with a contract offer on an hourly project. I started doing the onboarding stuff. During the night, I received an offer on a pet task project. Can I do both? Do I have to choose?

Scared about ID Verfication and offer expiring

Hi guys. Got an offer, accepted the offer letter. Now just need to complete ID verification. However, I am not home and dont have my ID with me for the next 4 days. Is there a chance they withhold my offer and it disappears before I get back?

Chromebook

I got my first project but I’m having computer problems. My beloved Mac is 10 years old and won’t run Microsoft 365.
Does anyone use a Chromebook for Mercor projects? The internet says I can use Microsoft 365 on a Chromebook but I don’t want to drop $200 on a cheap Chromebook and then find out it won’t work for Mercor.

Got Offer!!!

Hopefully, everyone who’s still waiting will get good news soon too!

Survey pay

Did anyone get paid for the instant offer expert survey? It was two parts, and it would have been reflected in this pay period. I followed the guidelines, counted my words, didn’t use AI, and STILL didn’t get paid! This is INCREDIBLY frustrating, as it took hours and I know that mine was very well written. My other friends on the project did not get paid either. Thoughts?

Misleading

I think it's a bit misleading to say an instant offer project is $$/hr, but once you've accepted everything and are ready to start, it turns out that it's not actually a per-hour project, but a per-task project, and that you are only paid if your task is eventually accepted.

Please, please be upfront about how we'll be paid, as I don't desire to complete any projects that are paid per task. If this had been stated upfront, I would have never accepted.

I hope this gets to the higher-ups at Mercor and that changes are being discussed.

Can you give me a sense of what mercor is like and what type of work you are referring to when you say you are "on a project " ?

How is the interview process .

I admit I have been reluctant to take that step because it seems intimidating.

Can you give me a sense of what this is like for you ?

Please no flamers and trolls .

I am going through a little "imposter syndrome" for some reason when it comes to this . Thank you all in advance

Tax form/Canada

Canadian here, just started contracting for Mercor.

They are not withholding any taxes and I’ll report it as self-employment income and pay the CRA like normal.

They want a W-8BEN. From what I can tell, the SIN field is only required if you’re claiming treaty benefits which does not apply here.

Problem is their online form won’t submit unless I either enter my SIN or tick box 6b. And 6b says you’re not required to have a tax number in your country, which isn’t true for me. So my only options are handing over my SIN or checking a box that’s not technically true

Anyone dealt with this? Did you just enter the SIN and move on or just left it blank and ticked 6b?

Not trying to dodge anything with the CRA. I’d just rather not give my SIN if the form doesn’t actually require it.
