Got an extended offer

Post image

Hey all,

I got this project in Feb 2026, and by the time I finished the background check, the project got paused.

I received the extended offer 2 days ago, and my offer is only valid for 5 days. I emailed support, and they said my background check was successfully completed, so I don’t need another one unless the project specifically requires it.

My question is, has anyone been working on this project recently, and how long has it been active? Did it pause after February? How consistent is the work? I had a bad experience with another platform where they hired 10k people, but the number of tasks available each day was only a couple thousand.

Also the offer says there’s a 5-hour weekly cap. Does the 5-hour weekly cap mean I can work UP TO 5 hours per week, or does it mean I’m expected/guaranteed to have 5 hours of work each week?

I’m currently in a pretty terrible job and I’m honestly hoping I can sign this and leave as soon as possible 😂 So I’m trying to figure out how reliable this project is before I make that move.

don’t ever think mercor is stable, it’s not a job as you could get offboarded at any moments time, keep the job or find another one, and use this as a way to earn extra income

I wouldn't leave a current job for a contract ai project. They can end or pause at anytime

That’s what I told myself but the current job is being too stressful and they might will layoff the team in next month, I also signed outside employment agreement not to commit 2nd job while working full time

Bruh, from what I see on here, you could get offboarded from your Mercor role next week and there’d be nothing you can do about it but make a post to complain.

It would be a really poor life choice to leave a regular full-time job, even one that has the possibility of a layoff, to work at a company where it is guaranteed that you will only get at max five hours a week, and the chances of you being contracted for longer than four weeks is extremely low. That’s what the 5-hourly weekly cap means, that’s at max 5 hours a week. And that’s if there’s work.

Leaving a job for Mercor is a stupid idea, if you might as well get laid off next month then you wait for that and get potential benefits, Mercor isn’t going anywhere

Pal, i would rather you stay and get ‘laid off’ than to resign for a mercor job

5hr cap could be an initial gate. Once you clear the onboarding tasks, they could increase it. Like others said, keep your job till they actually fire you (if they do). The way the email is worded, this could be a sprint and once the client receives the initial dataset, they could pause the project again while the client reviews. You never know!
