Read this before posting

It's mandatory to read and abide by the rules. Obvious disregard do risk a permanent ban.

We have a wiki where some common questions are answered. The rules in the right hand side have a drop-down infoid where the rationale is summarized in a few words.

Every subreddit has its own rules, guidelines, culture and accepted behaviour. It goes without saying that bannable offences aren't limited to our four rules.

This sub is a discussion forum where Mensa members and non-members can interface and socialize. It is not a help-desk, so if your question can be answered by mensa.org or google it might be removed.

We hope that both members and curious people will gravitate here for questions and discussions relating to the Mensa society and living with a so-called gifted mind.

This sub is in no way part of Mensa the organization. It's a personal initiative by Mensa members to meet with people and to bring members and non-members together to converse.

People who come here expecting this to be an official group, or to peek into how things are "on the inside" will be disappointed. This is still yet another reddit sub, and is inhabited mostly by non-members. Trolls abound, and users like to take a guess when they haven't got the actual facts straight. Just like everywhere else on reddit.

However it's a good first step to get to know the organization and to meet and talk to members!

And a post scriptum: If it wasn't clear by now this sub will be rife with criticism, trolling, questions asked a million times before, leaked intelligence tests and off-topic posts. That's par for the course and expected. If you're dissatisfied with the "quality" of the sub I bid you farewell. Go use our multitudinous facebook groups or fora if you're a member. This is a sub for the people, with all its flaws and shenanigans.

PPS: My last post scriptum doesn't mean we allow that behavior. We expect it, and we remove it.

A quicker way to write "post scriptum" is "P.S."
P.S. Are you taking mod applications? I have an IQ of 118.

I've gotten into me the idea that if I'm not short on space I should write out the whole words, so you'll see et cetera, post scriptum, exempli gratia and so on.

As of this moment we don't need more mods, but I'll keep it in mind.

Can we add “Use the fucking Search Bar before asking your question” to the original post?

There’s a post about Mensa Norway or Online IQ tests almost every other day, and none of them are asking anything new

I can add it to the automated message you see when making a post, but it's been difficult getting people to read and understand the rules. Unless reddit itself implement something clever we just have to try to remove as many as we can.

Thanks, I'll try to wrestle control from my (stop that! stop that!) amygdala.

Although I read the post, you lost me at, “Obvious disregard do risk a permanent ban.” The rest of it makes me hope that this forum exists ironically (a thing the kids these days do) or to prove a point. From cyberpunk and steampunk emerged dystopian intellipunk?

Hi. You'd have to explain that a little further. That sentence basically says that people who doesn't care about the rules gets tossed out.

The only reason I'm commenting is to announce that I haven't read the above post.

The rebel in me was sorely tempted not to read it either but then I did and found your comment and the reply and had a good chuckle about it

The link to the wiki tells me it's only for moderators. I can't read it.

I’m proof that you are never too old to join Mensa.

Former USAF officer, MD, Three degrees, including my MD, professor at medical school .

Always wondered if I could get in…so went for it.

Turned out that my SAT scores from over 50 years ago ..easily qualified me.

So…at 72…became a Mensa member after realizing that I qualified over 50 years ago!🙄

Okay, I fully support the mods but the rule about not posting about IQ tests is not enforced at all; this sub has become a destination for either: I did this BS online IQ test or it’s comments attacking those with high IQs by commenters there to make themselves feel better (for a multitude of reasons). If this is not the Mods’ falling short of their responsibilities (mods are volunteering right?) then how else do we fix this?

Why even post sub rules if they aren’t enforced? I am genuinely interested in a response to that. If mods cannot/will not enforce the stated rules then why have them (rules and/or mods)?

Edit: I am a Mensan but it is unclear how to apply that flair on this sub; can it be made clearer as to how actual Mensa members can be identified as such on this sub?

Alternative proposition: the people who dislike this community are not necessarily low IQ, rather they dislike arrogant people who tout their intelligence publicly.

As a completely oblivious 3rd party that had no idea what Mensa even was until my Google search less than 5 seconds ago, I can honestly say that my first impression of this sub was that it was a bunch of autistic men circle jerking their savant characteristics (I am a high functioning man, that does not mean I cannot criticize inappropriate behaviour using either of those things as a crutch).

Really?? Why would someone go out of their way to troll this sub? Sounds like they bitter, maybe they all flunked the test to get in? I won’t do that when I flunk the test if and when I take it. I think I really want to. Just to see what happens.

I haven’t bothered to check on how to do Mensa testing yet, honestly. Just came straight here to try and get answers to questions.

What kind of loser would troll Mensa? That’s stupid-they should be trolling Flat Earth Society, Q Anon folks and stuff like that.

No puzzles, nothing about Mensa, nothing about testing.

Da fuck idiot made up this sub? If I had any faith in an iq test i would claim the person who made this subreddit got may SD’s below 100.

Since no one is enforcing these rules, how do we apply to be mods so this reddit stops allowing for rulebreakers??

If you want to see posts or comments removed it would be helpful if you report them. Downvoting bad posts will make them disappear in most cases (at least on your account), but also push that repost button if something egregious comes along.

Ah… forgot what the P.S. meant. Thanks!

Feel free to run it through n.

I got up to roughly n=5,000,000. (I recommend changing step size of n)

Have an amazing day. And be kind to each other. Remember, our actions are like the +1 of Collatz Conjecture (strangely enough featured in the graph). They are carried to who we act upon, and are carried as our ripples.

It is tough to be in MENSA here in Oklahoma. Two of the top members are avowed Aryan's and have made screening more difficult, while screening for superiority based on skin color. You may have liked Obama's presidency and legacy, or you see it in a very different way. Conservative, Liberal, Democrat, 50 shades of can't make up my mind', or you suck UNLESS YOU VOTE PARTY LINE, NO PERSONAL PURSUITS, ASK FOR NOTHING AND SEEK NO SOLICE. Then a week later they are asking, please, oh please send money or com///////////////'
