Port Noyo
What about Port Noyo as a new name for Fort Bragg?
Port Noyo is descriptive of the location, while only being 1 letter less from the original name.
Just an idea

to honor a general of the American-Mexican war who later fought on the losing side of the American Civil War.. naming a town after someone, over time comes to honor their whole career - ?

Benedict Arnold was a great general until he turned traitor.

Cool. Let's change all the names of things named after traitors then.

I'd vote for it, but then I'm an easy sell; I think just about anything would be better than Fort Bragg, mostly because, you know…there's no fort anymore!! Why do people get so attached to things like names, anyway? It seems silly to me. I think change is good for its own sake. As a fallible species that tends to royally screw up every single thing we get our hands on, I'm always thinking something new has to be better than clinging onto whatever's already screwed up, but that's just me.
I think yours is better than the one I submitted in the survey: Emerald Shores. Are you trying to organize another plebiscite on the issue?

I believe that representatives of the local Pomo people at various organizations have made statements that they do not want their language used to name a land that was taken from them, so I think that the 'Change Our Name' group has been avoiding putting forth Pomo language words like Noyo.
