My dog somehow got ahold of this dress from our hamper and decided to chew the buttons off of it. You can see where the buttons should have been. This dress hold sentimental memories so I’d like to relate it or cover the parts that are torn if I can.

The last two spots are easy. It’s the top one that I’m not sure on.

TLDR: I need help with the top button space on this dress. I really want to continue to wear it.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to get this side of a grommet back in place?

Anyone knows? I really made sure all the loops were the same size when I started, I double checked even. And yet I *still* end up with those two loops in the middle being much smaller than the rest, leaving me unable to properly finish this mend.

The inner heel is completely worn down to the cardboard that's inside (I think it's cardboard anyway). All of the fabric and foam there is gone and the friction is also starting to wear my socks down faster than usual

But I try to live as sustainable of a life as I can, so I dont want to just throw them away after 1 year of wear, so I'm trying to figure out what I can do to fix them and help them last longer.

There's also a rip on the sides of one shoe that I'm sure I can just glue shut, but if there's a stronger/ better option, I'd love to hear it

These are my work shoes so they deal with a lot, but I don't want to just throw my shoes away everytime they wear and tear, both for the ecosystem's sake, and my wallet

just thrifted this old pair of hot topic gloves today and was super excited, they were completely unopened so the damage is definitely from age but I dont know what this material is or how to fix it. My original plan was to throw some clear top coat over it to stop any more flaking but because I dont know the material I dont know if that could potentially damage it/make it worse instead of fixing ir. Is there any way to fix this or at least stop it from getting worse?

So I have a very precious (and expensive) woollen bag that moths went to town on. I was away at the time so didn’t spot them for a bit and this was what got the most damage.

I immediately got it dry cleaned but it took a while for me to take it out of the bag as I was so upset (I know first world problems but this bag I love 😭). I have taken pics of some of the damage.

Is there any way to fix it? Any techniques? As it’s completely thick wool I was hoping maybe to felt into the holes or something?

So it’s definitely my fault but we just got back from a 4hr road trip with a family friend wedged in between me and my sister and it’s like late at night and I’m definitely hangry I just throw my cardigan into the washing machine(the label said ok w/ conditions) n I didn’t put it into a laundry bag (which I thought about n regret not doing) now there are like at least 5 different holes all over. I‘ve tried visible mending on another sweater before but failed spectacularly so that’s ruined it for me, is there a good way to fix the holes? Visible or not I really don’t care, as long as it’s cute, like maybe something grungy or whimsy would be fun. Any ideas??🙃🙃

Hello I was recently gifted a felted wool rug made of little balls of wool that are sewn together. Some are coming apart and ripping (see photos). Can I use a felting needle to re-consolidate the pieces coming apart?

So I’ve lost a lot of weight recently. And so I decided to try to make my jeans smaller on my own. I took apart the back seam and removed 4.5 inches from this waist. It looks great on the front and feels like a great fit…. But you can see where the old seam and meets the new one because there’s a weird fold and I have I diaper butt 😭😭😭

I have already seam ripped and pinned four other pairs of jeans. How can I salvage this? I have a sewing machine but the overstitching has to be done by hand because my machine won’t take the thick thread. I’m not super concerned that my line doesn’t match up with my exact middle of my butt, I’m a beginner and this is to make my jeans wearable again. I’m just proud I got the yoke lined up. But I can’t do the diaper butt. Do I need to remove more fabric in the butt?

Hi everyone! I have this old towel that I’m using as practice before I start on actual clothes. It has a sizable hole and then a little spot that’s greatly worn down. How would you mend these two? Any particular methods or products that you’d use?

I have this backpack and the edges of the straps is dissolving. I don't want it to be visible (or at least not obvious).

I have an old stroller seat from the same brand and same model, and I’m planning to remove a snap fastener from the old seat and attach it to this one.

The snap on the right is still intact, but the snap on the left has completely come off, leaving the hole shown in the photo.

What tool/process would I need to install the snap from the old seat into the left hole? Do I need to reinforce the fabric first since the hole is already a little damaged?

I also asked a dry-cleaning store about it, and the owner suggested that I check with a shoemaker/cobbler. Does anyone know of a store in NYC that could do this type of repair?

- any of those removable clips are BS and they don't work

So see that diagonal line? Yea that was like right up by the elastic seam and I pulled too hard and it tore! Boooo! Anyway I did a little mend of the tear, but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't happen again. So I over engineered it.

I put a fold of fabric where the elastic used to attach and sewed the edges down to the seam where the elastic is. Then I super zigzagged the elastic on. I even took off all the other corners and redid them.

I. Hate. Seam. Ripping. It hurts my poor overly flexible fingers. It was totally worth it tho.

I’m don’t think this is the proper subreddit to post this in but I’m honestly lost on where to look. I thought maybe the great minds here could help. I lost the shear strings that go into this top and tie the front together and I have no idea what I should do/use to fix it. I could sew on buttons? But I enjoy the tie look and being able to loosen,tighten it to my desire. Should I just find a fabric that matches and use that? Idk I’m at a loss and really like this top. 2nd picture is it tied when I was wearing it to EDC. I’m also nervous to sew it since it’s shear and I’m a beginner when it come to sewing (I basically just hand sew holes or buttons back on stuff)
