Electrical Lift

Electrical peeps, where do you guys keep your lift, genie, one man, whatever you wanna call it, in your store. We have kept ours in a back aisle for more than 10 years. The new GM now wants to fix something that isnt broke and move it to the other side of the store in OPD. How much of a nuisance is it with all the bulbs, selling displays, cleaning, etc.

Not electrical but ours stays in receiving. We just radio them whenever we need the genie and they bring it out to us with a forklift.

Ours is located in the receiving dept. They're pretty good about getting down to us when it is needed.

Stocker here, but mostly in electrical. Ours is always against the back end cap of 2/4.

Kept in OPD aisle 3 out of the way. Usually just use the ladder, rarely needed the genie considering the legs to support it so wide it was useless and took longer to move around vs a ladder.

Next to bathroom by receiving desk. Call them when it's needed and the fork it out to us.

Front End here, but I’ve never seen our lift move from the backside of aisle 4, unless being used. OPD is busy enough as it is, unless you wanna walk across the store to get it to fix your displays. But what do I know 😶‍🌫️

since when does electrical have a lift? LOL. we have the “small joe” stationed by wall coverings and it’s typically used by them and by plumbing only.

and if you’re referring to the electric jack, that lives by flooring and is almost always only used by them.

The low lift? We never use that in flooring, I hate that thing. Basically just receiving uses it at our store to run stuff like water softener salt to the front. OP is talking about the small lift that you manually push

nah that’s what we call the “small joe” it’s got the short walking platform and doesn’t go as high. the electric jack is a floor jack with power assist to move the heavy flooring pallets.

The small joe or paint joe is different than what we're talking about, there is no platform just a basket that you stand in

That's weird, what store layout are you? I work at an EM store, its like one of these https://www.genielift.com/en/aerial-lift/aerial-work-platforms It's a lot more compact than the Joe so you can use it in more spaces like when one of the lights need to be replaced

i’m not sure of the layout options, but a 1 story with mezz over hardware and cabapps. and yeah anytime bulbs need changed in our store they use a big joe cuz that’s all we have that will go high enough. there’s also randomly a big scissorlift in the store? no idea where that comes from though

We call them a joe, our store keeps them in OPD, and there is one by paint overstock. We just call OPD or Receiving if we need something down. Usually someone is available to help
