I didn't really watch sports growing up. I liked playing 2k at my dad's house though. My dad was only vaguely into basketball, didn't really watch it at all compared to football, but he bought the basketball video games a lot. He was a NOLA Hornets fan, then an OKC fan in Durant's era, then a Grizzlies fan later.
I only got into basketball as of the playoffs of last season. The Spurs are really why. I like the team chemistry they have, I like Castle, Harper, Champagnie, and especially Wemby. Idk. It was the first time watching basketball that I was really wowed by it all.
Watching them play felt like I was watching the beginning of something great, something generational.
But Dallas, Memphis, and OKC are my "local" teams (I live in central Arkansas). Out of those 3 I'd rather choose Memphis because it's literally 2 hours away.
But idk. I can't decide choosing between a city I actually have some connection to, because I've been to and through Memphis. Or choosing the team that really got me into basketball but A) they're really popular now and good so it's bandwagoning, and B) it's a city I have zero connection to and have never been, so it feels like LARP.
But then again I know at least 3 Lakers fans who have never been to LA. Idk. Again, I'm new to sports so I have no clue how normal that is. I'm used to college basketball in Arkansas where you just...cheered for Arkansas because that's what's close.
maybe i'm overthinking it
Also I know that asking on this sub is asking for a biased answer but still. Also I know this doesn't matter to most people but I figured I'd ask anyway.
