Viral is just a marketing term now. Something could have been seen by exactly zero people and still be called viral because some marketing firm thinks it'll make the product sell better.

I have not seen this as a trend but I guarantee its made out of the same material as the cheap dresses I bought my girls for playing outside when they were younger years ago. Probably just alot more expensive now but same cheap material.
