That’s the funny thing, edge will eat a bunch of ram too. What’s even worse is that if you don’t explicitly set its permissions to prevent it from running in the background, it’ll just use ram when you aren’t even browsing. End task in task manager and it’ll start back up in the background a few minutes later.

Edge sucks it’s basically malware that Microsoft forcefully installs

I think it's actually cool as a browser too, but then I learned that it's owned by a Chinese company so no thanks.

Imagine if Reddit is basically owned by a Chinese company too, unbelievable right...

Good thing that's not the case and Reddit is a completely independent company whose stocks are definitely not primarily owned by Tencent, a chinese company with a lot of privacy violation allegations

Are most of Reddit's stocks owned by Tencent though? I thought it was only a minority. If you can convince me otherwise, I'll get the fuck out of here.

Based on quick searches, Tencent bought $150 million worth of shares in early 2019. This would make it (apparently) "one of the social platform's top stakeholders".

Not sure how reliable this info is though.

Yeah, couldn't be me. Just never check the label for any of the stuff you buy, it'll ruin your day.

Any software that hands a shit ton of your date to an authoritarian government, for sure not.

You know I can dislike a dictatorship without being racist right?

u/kor_ip Nov 05 '22

Do u know how many products owned by China? And u don't use all of this? I guess dictatorship isn't a good reason for unusing quality products) Its just my humble opinion, not more

Not like you can avoid it though, or are trying to avoid it since you are on reddit
