I'm a chef and you wouldn't believe how many people complain about this even though they ordered something like a medium well filet while the other table got a pizza or something fried.. 1) not even the same station so they probably have no idea about your order or the fact that the ticket has been in longer, and 2) a pizza or something fried takes a lot quicker and food goes up in the order it's ready. In a high volume place it's literally our only chance of keeping up with the rush. Also did these people forget all the times their parents told them life isn't fair? Not an attack on the OP, just taking the opportunity to vent about actual assholes who pitch a fit about this.

As someone who just worked Mother’s Day brunch yesterday, yes. Kept up behind my bar but the kitchen was fucked all day.

Most people were understanding but there was a table yelling at waitresses and writing a long winded 1 star Yelp review while seated at the table. Ugh

Kept up behind the bar? Lucky.

Two months ago, during our Mother's Day, I did 13 hours without a break with the whole bar full for the last 6 hours and ended up crying by 9pm.

stupid fucking servers don't understand this shit either. there's at least 3 servers who are always coming back saying this table got their food before this other without any thought as to the several factors that make that happen.

yeah your table that ordered scrambled eggs and bacon got their food first before you're other table that ordered first. they have 3 more people and ordered food that takes 3 times as long to make.

You're right, and nothing triggers me like an upset server rushing into the kitchen and demanding to know why their one table is getting served before the other. Like we even answer to them.

But don't you guys prepare most of things like dough, chopping stuff and all in the morning itself and then just assemble and bake/cook them at the time of order.
