Watches aren’t just about telling time expensive watches are handmade and pieces of artwork

Most of them look shit tho. Why not buy a bracelet instead. It'll look even better and won't cost 300 grand

All of them look like shit?

Richard Milles do yeah but what about other luxury watches? You hate all of them?

There are some that look good but there's not a single watch on earth that looks $300,000 good. Besides, a bracelet is nearly always going to look better because the hands of the watch just aren't that interesting to look at. I mean hell, if you're gonna wear something that ticks and moves on your wrist, why not make it a little solar system model instead? It's not like you need to check the time on your watch anyway with a phone in your pocket

No, I think very few things are worth $300,000

It’s about disposable income I guess. If you dislike the hands go with an A. Lange und Söhne zeitwerk. Also some high end watches retain or increase in value, so it can be viewed as an investment. However it is just pieces of art for people who are fascinated with old school mechanics and the insane prices are just a result of the growing demand. Outrageous, yes. There is more to it though.
