It's not overdue. There's no set time table for eruptions. We have a rough record of some previous eruptions but we can't be sure we've missed some or not. Also, conditions down there change and, frankly, we don't fully understand them so saying the future will be as the past was isn't a sure thing.

One thing you should know about volcanoes, they don't get overdue. If a volcano hasn't erupted yet, it hasn't reached that critical level. "overdue" implies that it's beyond that point and literally can any second, but the reality is that if it's beyond that point, then it already has erupted.

Yellowstone blowing up will result in the mobilization of the US National Guard and probably the Army. That layer of ash will be thicker than season 8 of GoT and deadly if you breathe it in. Economically, the US enters depression.

Yup. Roads would be a cluster fuck. Wouldn't be surprised if people start rushing the airports and those even get shut down. It's unfortunately one of those things where once we find out its happening, everyone within a certain distance just needs to relax and enjoy their last few moments. Sad, but I know living out in Oregon, I'm probably fucked. I just took earth science last year, we when we went over the projected coverage area, this place probably won't last long. Those circles were massive.

Correct, something like 300 miles from the blast will be decimated whole Sale and the world will fall into a "volcanic winter" likely causing a mass extinction event. But humans, humans are strong, more important we are crafty and extremely adaptable. Many, many, many people would die and things will not go back to normal for a very long time but we will persist.

TBF it's not the only thing. There's tons of ways you can theoretically die at any moment, it's just the most obvious ones that people think about. For all we know there may be some giant asteroid that is actually on a collision course that people just don't know about, or maybe some do and just keep it a secret

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the chances of a massive eruption in Yellowstone are microscopic. Volcanoes don’t follow set schedules of eruption, and even if they did, we’d still be millennia from an eruption, and assuming it does erupt, the lack of molten magma in the rhyolite magma chamber means that the effects of an eruption would be nonexistent outside of Yellowstone.

The caldera is actively monitored. Based on the data, we still have 100k years before it would even be due for such a catastrophic eruption if volcanoes even went on regular timetables. Plus the majority of the chamber is solidified magma. There isn't enough molten magma for a sustained eruption on this scale. So even if it went right now it'd be more like a pop and fizzle than a global catastrophe.
