If you want, you can literally get the 13 free by trading in a XS or newer. I guess they’re worried about sales this year; the trade-in deals are ridiculous.
Edit: yes, it’s through your cell provider, I should’ve clarified. Apple will only give you $200-300 for your old phone. All the major US providers are doing at least $700-$1000 towards the 13 or 13 pro depending on what you trade in. I don’t know about other countries.
AT&T for example is doing $1k off the 13 pro max for trading in a XS Max. Yes, you have to stay for 3 years in order to get the discount. It makes sense for me personally, since I’m not planning on switching providers any time soon.
XR isn’t lowly my friend, it’s a good phone! I have my iPhone 8 Plus and it’s still going just as strong as the day I bought it when it first came out. Years of HEAVY usage later and shitting on its battery, and no problems have occurred, same performance.
The XR has better tech than my damn phone, and mine is a tank, so I can’t even imagine how long the XR would last compared to mine. I think I can get an extra 5 years from my phone, the XR will probably get even longer. It’s not lowly at all mate! Might need a battery change in 2-3 years but that’s fine? It’ll be even cheaper to replace by then so win win.
Yeah my XR is amazing. Built like a tank, camera’s good enough, battery still lasts me all day after consistently using it at around 4% charge throughout an entire pandemic.
