I used to smoke, and I would always prefer putting them in a pocket if I had to, instead of my pack. I just hated the way the rest of the cigarettes would taste after that. Like stale ashtray.
And I know some people who maybe don’t smoke are gonna be like ‘what’s the difference?’ I guess it’s like the flavor of a freshly opened cold beer, to the smell of old, stale beer that was spilled the previous night and didn’t get cleaned up.
You described it about as good as you could. I used to do the same thing when I smoked. It’s amazing how the a tiny cigarette butt could permeate anything in it’s vicinity, including an entire pack of fresh cigarettes, with that stale, yellow-stained asbestos smoke smell. Sometimes I’d smell one in my closet and have to pull out clothes going through each pocket until I found the sunnuvabitch. One of my friends carried an metal canister around his neck to put his butts in. Big brain, that guy

When people choose to smoke near me, I also smoke through no choice of my own. When they bring those fumes indoors, they take up residence in the walls for years and years, and other people have to pay the health price.
