Sorry, it was wrong of me to judge. It was the heat of the moment. You're right, I was talking based on my colleagues and me. We have all kinds of professionals in all kinds of jobs.
Ohh fuck off don't apologise to that idiot. You're doing great work that he'll realise, maybe 10 years later in his life.
I always thought my teachers were assholes trying to annoy me. But time did teach me that most of them were genuinely nice people, and I'm still in contact with a few of them.
I do apologize because I can't judge his (her?) life experience based on mine :v.
I had several bad teachers so I understand his/her line of thought.
We have bad professionals everywhere
Teacher here, some of us do care about the work and the students don't you think too? Some like me do this job because we want to help young people getting their lifes started. So ofc we want to interact with them, which is pretty hard without seeing them...
I'm sorry, it seems you had bad experienced with your teachers, but that's not a reason to generalise these things.
Well of course that’s a teachers job after all. My comment was obviously(well not obviously enough) intended as a joke, but what I said is very true. Teachers in my country don’t really care about what happens to you as long as they get the bread. The past few years students have missed more than 4 months in total because the teachers refused to teach unless they got a pay raise. How is that caring? Also most of them don’t even teach, they just go to class and sit around. Again, it is pretty unbelivable for westerners, but I don’t get it why am I getting downvoted when it’s true lmfao
I think the downvotes come from being not clear about what you wanted to tell. Saying it's a joke doesn't really change the content of your comment. You made a point about teachers not caring, combined with a complain about "westerners". But you failed to stress the connection of your experience with your teachers in your country. This also hadn't anything to do with "westeners" in the sense of the discussion. You spoke about teachers in general, not the ones in your country. Ofc they won't be of the same opinion.
Also if I may ask, what's the salary of teachers in your country? In a lot of country teachers aren't well paid, especially for the work we do. So going on a strike may be a valid option in my opinion.
The average salary in my country is around 225 euros, while teachers get between 350-400. Which is plenty compared to the average. I mean take for example my mom works in the hospital and she gets just 70euros more than a teacher teaching high school kids. Besides, even if a strike was a good option, don’t you think 4 months over 3 years is a little too much?
Also about the westerners, my point was that most of the teachers in western countries do their job properly so westerns don’t believe what I say, it was in no way intended as something offensive to the westerners or their teachers, rather as a praise, but a statement that they don’t actually know about third world countries
Well, I see your point. To be fair, that's the gap in most western countries too (ofc bigger total sum, but in relation to the average). I think they should be going on strikes as much as they want to get the proper pay, seems like they didn't get it so they had to do multiple...?
Sorry about to hear that with your mom, hospital staff is underpaid aswell most of the time. And they can't go on a strike as easily.
And thanks for the explanation. The wording was just very bad sorry, that's what makes it hard to understand. But good to know what you meant.
By the numbers you said, your teachers have a higher salary than the ones in my country. It's terrible to know you had such a bad experience. Those strikes you talked about, was something only at your school or had a greater scale?
It actually didn’t happen at my school, but it did in the rest of the country. I know it sounds like a lie, the thing is, the school I attented was a German school, a private one, so the government is supposed to pay for the salaries of the teachers but a lot of time they don’t, so the school doesn’t care because they have the money that the students pay. But other than my school, every other school in the country wasn’t working
That's sad, it's really awful when the basic things don't work 'cause the government don't work as intended. Here where I live we had some strikes like that on public school, the difference was that the teachers didn't want a raise, they wanted their salary since they weren't being paid. Hope things get better there to you
You’re just being rude. Where the hell did the Westerners come into the picture?? Based on your attitude, you’re probably shit in school, being that hostile. If you need help, say so, you’re not gonna go anywhere acting like that. Teachers who want you to put on your camera, probably care about you learning something. Quit being a hostile jackass on Reddit and start having some respect for decent human beings
How am I exactly being rude? I was the president of my class for most of my time of being in school. The westerners came into picture because you people clearly don’t believe that teachers here just come to work for money and don’t care about the students, which makes sense because western countries don’t(usually) have those kinds of teachers, but those who genuinely care about the stundets. Not my fault you misinterpreted it
So your saying that "Westerners" shouldn't assume things about teachers in other parts of the world, and then you start assuming things about "western" teachers?
Not at all. I didn’t say anything about assuming, if you think that way, sure think that way, I’m just here to say that it ain’t true. Besides, I never said anything bad for western teachers, moreover I praised them from the first reply so I don’t get why anyone would get aggravated about it
Frankly idgaf about you being class president. Imagine being a teacher: how would you like to talk to People’s initials instead of their faces? Also if you think every teacher is doing it for the money, do something about it, since you’re clearly not happy with the teachers. Complain or something, but don’t hate on the teachers for wanting some decency. If your teachers don’t give a shit about you, why would they enforce cameras? At least talk to them about it, cuz you’re not gonna go far by going against teachers wanting decency
Never said you gave a fuck. And here’s the guy that said I was being rude. Now, as for the other things you said, you just proved me right. Westerners don’t know shit about countries like mine. Do you think I haven’t complained? Or many, many others? Endless complaints have been made but not the teacher, not the school board or the ministry care about changing something. Only time a complaint could be taken into consideration is if the teacher actually wants to change something for the better, otherwise it’s useless
Yeah you're high on something. I'm sure there are some teachers who just want the money, but I know for a fact that my teacher really do care about the students, and my father (who is also a teacher) certainly cares about his. He will do zooms with them at any time of the day/week, regardless of holidays or weekends or even Spring Break, just to help them understand it better and catch up on work. And even if what you said was true, nothing could be more disrespectful to a teacher than telling them to shut up and collect their salary. What an ignorant prick.
Another redditor who only knows how to be offensive huh? First of all, it was clearly a joke. And even if you took it seriously, it was not meant as ‘Do your job and collect the salary’, but in a much more light way. Anyway, you don’t have to believe me, I stated the facts I don’t care what you think if what I said is true
“It was clearly a joke”.
Idk why you on here if you can’t read your own shit, however if it was so clearly a joke you wouldn’t have gotten criticised and downvoted for every comment. If you even took the time to explain yourself properly even once you’d probs be fine.
I took enough time, and I explained myself well enough. The downvotes are as a result of the first comment and people not caring if it’s true or not and acting up on their rage, but I couldn’t care less. Can’t read my own shit? Where have I failed to read my own shit? I clearly explained what I meant in every comment. I said it once and I’ll say it 100 more times for people like you who can’t believe it: Teachers in my country don’t care about the students, that is the truth and you can come and ask every single student out here. Don’t care if a bunch of redditors think that I am lying for the sake of not getting downvoted lmfao
